  1. Nah, but I'll guess I'll put on some other drawings I drew Not that any are good, just thought might like to see, PS. I am not very good at drawings. Ash HK
  2. Haha, after sharing and posting a bit, I have finally come along to doing my own project. I wouldn't be surprised if you guys already got bored of what I am writing, well I am anyways. But to drag you off the boredom of another design, I am probrably the first that I know of in Hong Kong to fully build a guitar of their own design. But anyways here's my design after a long run of random drawings (I learnt that a single slight mess up of a curve can totally destroy the overal image of the guitar. Here it is: Sorry about the quality, just a phone shot. Comments please welcome: GD or BD Ash HK
  3. Too bad that with a saga kit u cant have your own design. But I still persist with mark and go for the HC-10. If interested check Brian's stuff out. He is really good to work with and checks everything b4 shipment. www.universaljems.com Ash HK
  4. Yer, sure I do. down south or something like that. All I know is that they have good fish and chips there. A good place to hang out with the family and the park is pretty cool. Oh ya and the massive ships in fremantle, but thats just about it. Exept that my aunt's mother in law is burried in the fremantle cemetary. Hehe. Ash HK
  5. hey its me: I live in Waterford and often go to Applecross during the summer. Is ur school near there? Just wandering. Ash HK
  6. And another question to your reply is what ur views are on the neck. Good , ok, terrible? Just wanted to know . Got it from brian right? THanks Ash HK
  7. Is that a saga strat neck? cos my looks almost identical without that cut out shape
  8. Another thing to add on is that if your bolt on is already made and ready to install, then adding an angle to the heel and the butt will alter the angle in which the screw holes lay in the neck and therefore screws can't go in straight. I am doing the same thing also on my current project. bolt on wth TOM. I would advise just milling a recess for the TOM. its not difficult and it saves alot of time. Ash HK
  9. Hey guys, not to be offensive, but doesn't that picture already have a label saying black REDWOOD? Redwood is a soft top wood that some luthiers choose and is not as expensive as maple. You can buy it at: http://www.lmii.com/CartTwo/thirdproducts....dwood+Top+Plate Just contact the guys in lmii and they will try to find a piece of redwood similar to that dean. Ash HK
  10. Dude, thats awesome. Who would have guessed that I am talking to the Mr. Ormsby himself. Cool! Thanks for the suggestions. But still not too sure now on how to get that kind of bend on the body blank in the first place. P.S. Rhoads, I go to Perth every year. Maybe I could pop down to your shop/workshop one day. I only stay in two places in my aunt's homes. Either in Waterford or Applecross depending on peference.
  11. You lucky dog, I wish I had the possibility to use such a machine! Just out of curiosity, what cad software and cam processor have you planned to use to generate the toolpaths? I have tried to model a carved top body with SolidWorks with very little success. Can you suggest more suitable software? Also, what kind of fixtures will you use to attach the body blank to the router's table? What comes to the veneer, save it for your later projects. Guitar building is highly addictive, so I'm quite sure you will come up with plenty of plans to use it while CNC'ing the first body. -- Seppo ← Well, I personally use a software that no one has ever heard before. Its called Pro/Desktop. If you want I can mail you a copy. ITs very good for visulalising and using different planes and surfaces. Heres a quick screenshot of a tuneomatic I did: There are many things to do with this software so give it a try. Ash HK
  12. Is it possible to do a top like the ones they have on Brain Moores' with just a maple venner? I don't want to waste my venner I got from Brain. I know you need a vacuum thingy to do carves on veneer, but is it possible just to do it like one of these? Thanks, Ash HK
  13. Is it possible to do a top like the ones they have on Brain Moores' with just a venner? Ash HK
  14. Gosh. I have been planning for my first project, got the parts, and then wanted to do a flat top since I am not experienced. But all of a sudden there is this new CNC machine in school and turns my CADCAM files in reality.!!! So now I want a carved top guitar! So what should I do with my flame veneer now? I don't want to waste it. I have already thought of headstock veneering, but what else is there? Ash HK
  15. Nope! Unless you want your posts the same colour as your finish with a heavy coat of lacquer. When finished with the finish. Just line up the posts one at a time and put a block on top. Then use a hammer or anything you can get your hands on and hit that wooden block hard without worrying about scratching the finish. Ash HK

  17. Not quite done with the wiring. As I said it is just a teaser. I will put some clips when i am done. The footswitch is a DPDT millenium switch, costed 1.9$US and the enclosure is exactly $1 USD. all the components such as Resistors and diodes only cost HKD 20cents. Now divide that by 8 to get it in USD price. The pots were around that price also. As you know I do live in Hong Kong so stuff is directly impoted from China. Ash HK
  18. Hey folks, thought I could do my time with something, did a little research and voila, I have made my first pedal. Following the TS-808. Overall the project costed me less than USD$10 so I am pretty satisfied. Here are some teaser pics right after finishing and textures. PS. Please comment Gd or Bd Ash HK
  19. Sorry mate, but one word, BAD! I am not glad to bring it up to you like that, but thats the truth. It looks like a two minute job on autocad with every BLOODY SINGLE CURVE THE SAME ANGLE AND PROPORTIONALITY. Absolutely no skill has gone into this. sorry but the more I look at it the more messed up it is. But still try like me by drawing on paper and then onto the computer and try to make every line exactly as you want it because a slight change could cause the whole body to look bad overall. Keep trying. Ash HK
  20. Yep, got another drawing up to post. A tele bigsby. Ash HK
  21. Learn to socialise! (can't spell), but you cant just come in and use your first post as a discouragement. You better recount your thoughts as I did when I came to this forum.
