  1. NICE! Leave it one more day to make sure! No need to rush the process!
  2. Exactly! Thats what im doing for my guitar. By the way anyone know the correct angle the tom bridge should be at for a 25 scale guitar? (the bridge angle) Jeff
  3. well if its cubase sx and not cubase sx2 or 3 then i can see getting it for really cheap. My whole veiw on the matter is hey if you end up actually using the software buy it! These companies arnt like mirosoft, they need the money they dont sell millions of units of software. Plus if your just starting out your really dont need cubase sx. There is no point in using it over the free programs when you dont even have a decent setup and havent had much experience. Thats just my 2 cents, but im happy to help anyone out. It isnt my buisness if it is stolen or not thats up to you, the software company, and the government. Just remember kids If you end up using the software for making demos and making some money PLEASE go and buy the software! Just buy the software anyways or use a free version! Jeff
  4. Well I got out bid on the makore so I May do a Cocobolo top. Time to buy a nice mask and pair of gloves. I hear its nasty stuff. If not I may have to go the normal flamed maple route. Whats your guys opinions? Types of top woods to choose from: Cocobolo, redwood, wenge, ZEBRA wood, claro walnut( if i can find a peice under 80 bucks), Koa( if i can find it cheap and wide enough). Whats your opinions? I Would love to hear them! Jeff
  5. Sorry Im not at home at the moment and havn't check my email sorry about that ill reply right now. Sorry for the wait! Jeff
  6. I second that opinion! The more the guitar is made by you the better. Im sure we would all love to help you if you need some help starting out. Jeff
  7. Thanks, well i think i will just leave some wood there so i dont end up having a problem that could be avoided. Jeff
  8. Yea your right I may as well have two separate chambers and not route out the area behind the bridge. Thanks Jeff
  9. For sure! This build will be starting in the next couple of weeks I just need to finnish off this serpent inlay im doing for the guitar im building right now. Can anyone sujest a nice top wood for the bubinga back if the guitar is just going to be oiled (no colour). Thanks, Jeff
  10. Ok thanks. I wasnt worried about the strings getting pulled thru the body seeing as the back will be at least 3/16ths think bubinga maybe even 1/4. There will also be top and back ferrules. I was more worried about the strings vibrating inside the chamber the pass through and causing unwanted sound and vibartion. what is your take on this?
  11. Personally I start to play a different style of music then what im used to. It brings in fresh ideas and helps you move away from "I have to write a song that sounds like _______". It really works for me and it may work for you. Also (if you are) stop asorbing yourself in other peoples music sometimes it hinders more then it helps the writting process. I say stop thinking about writting and get into a new style of music and let you fingers take you where your going not your head. Just my 2 cents. Jeff
  12. I was wondering If there would be a feedback problem if i were to run the strings thru the body of a sem- hollow if the area behind the bridge was chambered. Basically If the strings were passing through the hollow area of the body. Would there be alot of feed back? Would I be Better off just leaving the wood there behind the bridge. Thanks Jeff
  13. Just remember people get some good analog to digital converters or all your expensive software will be for nothing. If you don't have good conversion at the source theres no luck making your recording sound very good. Just remember get a nice interface it doesn't have to have a million inputs but look for ones with good Analog to Digital converters as well as grab your self a nice preamp especially if your doing any vocals. Some thing like The RNC will be fine. Just my 2 cents, maybe Greg can back me up on my points if he agrees. Jeff
  14. Wow i really like it! My inlay in the works is Jormangund ( the serpent that circled the earth under the sea and has its tail in it's mouth) It will be twisting around the fret board. But back on topic. That is nice an clean work there. Is the shell really inlayed or is the ebony just like other peices of the inlay? It would be easy to get good joints like you have when doing it that way. Anyways nice inlay i like it!
  15. I use cubase sx3 on a regualar bassis and am heading to college for an audio recording technology degree this fall. I use Protools but not at my house I dont wish to spend alot of money on there over priced equipment. Ill stick with my delta1010 and my cubase sx3. If you need some help give me an email at XXXJeff.d.sinclair@gmail.comXXX (remove the XXX's) or PM me. really for the money the best plugins arn't waves like people say the. UAD-1 card that you can buy is very very good even rivals some expensive out board gear IMO. Just my 2 cents anyone give me a shout if they wish. Also go visit tweakheadz.com for more info on gear and software. Jeff
  16. Wow the stuff I use is really hard and doesnt shrink at all. Way stronger then any nitro laquer ive tried. Are you sure you used the stuff in the black can?? I dunno id recomend trying it on a scrap and trying it out. The minwax poly that I got built up fast was rock hard clear and actaully took more work to buff. There was no way in hell I was going to buff thru it. Its interesting the different experiences people have with the same finnish. My position is buy some cans of different finnishes and try them all on scraps first. Jeff
  17. I really dont like the spider amps. The only way they dont sound sterile and dull is when the reverb is cranked. It does produce some decent clean tone's when the right effects are added. Personally id get a nice small tube amp there are lots out there that can get the tone's your looking for. But when it comes to price vs performance the spider isnt half bad. Hope my grammer and spelling mistakes havn't hurt my almost non existant "credability" on this forum haha. Just take this review for the 2 cents its worth and run down to your local guitar store and test them out!
  18. I used Watco spray (rattle can) and man it never built up. I went thru 10 cans and i still rubbed thru! NEVER EVER USE WATCO! Its the devil i tell you! Use Minwax poly it works fine over auto paint and I found it easy to work with.
  19. You can resist it! Just pick up a new guitar project in the mean time. Thats what I do to reduce the urge. I cant wait to see it
  20. +2 cant wait to see it as well!
  21. Ok thanks alot guys. Yes it will be chambered and have some koa binding and black and white purflling and a neck made of laminates from both woods. Hopefully it will work out ok.
  22. Thanks verhoevenc. I think I may have to steal the idea of the over carve if you dont mind. I think that would looks really nice with the contrasting dark bubinga and the light makore. By the way has anyone used Makore? Ive heared it is similar to cherry. And would it be ok as a laminate in a neck that also includes bubinga?
  23. ok cool thats just what i needed. Damn why does this bubinga have to be all 1 inch thick! any ways thanks a lot Ok so if i get a 1 1/4 makore slab resawn so its book matched would it lose to from the resawing that i wouldn't be able to use it for a carve top?
  24. They used to be top quailty, but the competition was using cheaper parts and they couldn't compete except by using cheaper parts as well. Personally i will no longer by a router thats under 50 bucks. the 20 dollar ones die way to offen and have bad range and bad connection quality. Enough of my rant welcome back!
