    il try it later on my strat the tele has been butchered enough... edit tried it just now cant get any sound change out of the strat, (didnt think it would work the pickups are lace transensors and not powerfull enough). im still puzzled why it doesnt work with my telecaster... it has a 7k bridge and a 8k humbucker (might be higher) should be getting somthing with the humbucker at least, il save these for a rainyday project i guess.

    the diodes arrived (and they dont work) the sound change isnt really noticable when running on the shottkys just sounds like the tone cap (and yes the pickups are powerfull enough to drive it) looks like il be using this push pull pot to split my humbucker.

    finally got some parts delivered =/ fedup of this already, all these shops are a complete let down i ordered a dpdt (on,off,on) switch from banzaimusic.com and they sent me a spst(on,off,on) ... Order date: 23-01-2006 00:15:28 SKU16269 Miyama DPDT on/off/on Toggle Switch €3.25 and all the stuff from mouser hasnt arrived after i paid triple shipping.... (not by choice.)

    looks like a good idea but what exactely does the switch do ? couldnt this be acheived by wiring the middle in reverse to the 5way (pos to neg/neg to pos) or even by wiring the middle to the 5way with the switch inline to knock it out of phase example http://www.1728.com/phase.gif edit another thing i just noticed is the tip(hot) of the output jack grounded ? or is that just on the picture ?

    cheap single coil stratty sound = lace sensor off ebay some go for about $25, seen em go for less

    an easy way to fix the slug sizes would be to use bass slugs and drill them (like the gfs bigmouth/loudmouth, and some tele pups) then you wouldnt be losing too much surface area (not sure how that would work with them having a big hole in the middle, haha)

    finally found somthing usefull... i was going to mod my strat (which i dont care about) but looking for a telecaster mod (i dont want to mess with any hardware) i came across all the black ice wiring diagrams on stew mac http://www.stewmac.com/freeinfo/I-5065.html il be using the "push pull wiring 2" on the tele tone control

    i agree about the shipping to the uk (if i was buying more than 10 diodes, maybe 5000 i wouldnt care) but ive had stuff from the usa before and its only cost me $6-8, the worst part is they dont let you cancel orders/find out what shipping will be, untill the item has shipped, it better come fast anyhow, TO THE BAT CAVE! #%! i mean TO THE WORKBENCH!

    i got the invoice from mouser the diodes cost 1$ (for 10) and shipping/handling was 14$ =S i was thinking it would be half that... first and last time i buy from them >=/

    decided to try this and ive ordered the diodes from mouser (not sure what delivery will be yet) and the on-off-on switch(will be adding it to a strat)

    personally i dont think it matters (the pickups dont need to be next to each other to "buck hum"

    they are basically high quality caps for amps/speakers and can be used in guitars, altho i doubt the sound will change drastically. personally i wouldnt pay that much for a cap (was looking into this "upgrade") this is how far i got http://www.specialtyguitars.com/electronics/caps.html going to order the mallorys i think (and the treble bleeds) for a strat and tele

    if its the pots (vol/tone knobs) they usually fix with a nut and the black stuff is carbon paint to keep out interference/Stop hum (not sure what else would be in there)

    they dont seem to hum when wired up normally with a 5 way switch, if you want to use 2 singles as a humbucker i think you just just join the hot of pickup 1 to the ground of pickup 2 http://europa.spaceports.com/~fishbake/buck/wire1.gif they should work fine inphase but afaik the sensors dont use normal bobbins so it will have to just be done with wiring

    it doesnt matter what the output is it will just sound different and unbalanced (not that it matters, a 5k mid and 15k bridge would be unbalanced but could be compensated with the distance from the strings). personally i prefer lower ratings (about 5k for each pickup) and i push any distortion/overdrive/warmth through the amp with either onboard effects or overdrive pedels, then i can have a nice clean tone with nothing added.

    thats really handy personally i just trace the back of the guitar body then i have a basic template, il try this method when i get a new camera

    get a "carborundum" (oil stone) too best thing for sharpening chisels and knives up.
