  1. You just described my playing style in a nutshell!
  2. I posted something similar here: http://projectguitar.ibforums.com/index.ph...?showtopic=5595 which in turn referenced an older thread here: http://projectguitar.ibforums.com/index.ph...p?showtopic=234 From the lack of responses to my post, I concluded there's not too much interest here .
  3. Hmm... if you liked the way the 60 watter sounded... the "Hands on Review" page for the 120 watter at MF.com lists other features beside just double the wattage. Do those features make it more "worth the extra $110" ?
  4. The page is real pretty but is there a way to disable the Flash? It got kinda annoying to wait for it to do it's thing before being able to click on another menu link .
  5. I think recording on a PC should be considered. You can probably ask AlexVDL or tsl60200 for pointers . Hmm... Vinnie Moore also comes to mind: http://www.vinniemoore.com/gear.html there he uses Steinberg Nuendo. I like his isolation closet for his cabinets with the anechoic foam . Edit: again too slow... ditto what soapbarstrat said .
  6. Ah, I ask because $800 of that package is for the "Fostex VF160 16-track digital recorder with CD burner." You can buy a whole other computer with a cd burner and a good sound card (maybe a mixer too?) to dedicate for recording .
  7. Have you tried recording on your computer?
  8. I was thinking of asking the same about that BX1200... thanks for saving me the trouble!
  9. Are you saying, on a 5 way switch, you want position 1 (traditionally bridge only,) to be all 3 pickups? I'm guessing it depends on what you want the other 4 positions to do.
  10. A couple of things... it looks like the tuner holes don't line up straight (are you planning to use a locking nut?) and I can't tell from the pictures, is there an angle on the headstock? It looks flat, level with the "fingerboard."
  11. Yeah, are you selling? How about pics of the gig bags individually?
  12. I think y'all are mistaking the "Jaws" fret press http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Fretting_suppl...Fret_Press.html with the (much) heavier arbor press.
  13. Look here: http://www.ampwares.com/ffg/ I used to have an '87(?) "The Twin" http://www.ampwares.com/ffg/twin_redknob.html All the Marshall playin' metalhead buddies laughed at me for getting a Fender... until they heard the distortion (jaws literally dropped .) I sold it to my sister's boyfriend when I moved across country. You can get them used for about $500... and I probably will (again) eventually .
  14. Some love them, some hate them. I've owned two... loved them both but stupid me (*stupid! Stupid! STUPID!!*) got rid of both. Definately worth your time.
  15. That reminded me of Kaki King ... great guitarist, BTW.
  16. Hmm... you can try e-mailing dunlop to find a dealer. customerservice@jimdunlop.com
  17. Which Dunlops? The original or the Dual-Design? Recessing them has been done so it's feasible. I think you might be able to get away with doing it with the smaller originals. The Dual-Design's are too big for that little horn. Be careful!
  18. It looks a lot like the old Carvin V220. Bridge placement is crucial... maintain the original scale length.
  19. Dude? I think Jenk said she's female. Vadim, have you tried the Ovation-alikes while you were there? I was thinking of getting something like the "Agile HRB-350 Acoustic/Electric" ($169.95) Rondo's about an hour away from me. I'd like to know if it's even worth the trip out there .
  20. Speak for yourself! There are plenty of smokin' players (acoustic and jazz players comes to mind) that play heavier gauges. Even touch/tap guitarists (like Adam Fulara) play plenty fast on 13's. It's been said you don't choose the gauge, the guitar does. I think this is true to some degree and so, in a way, it's pointless to ask others for an opinion on this subject. Just try different gauges for a while and judge for yourself. Make sure you do the proper truss rod, bridge, etc. adjustments for each gauge change. Some say the trade-off for sensitivity/responsiveness and light touch is usually an anemic tone. Find you own middle ground. For me it's 10's after YEARS of 9's. Another option is to strengthen your fingers. Buy a cheapo (but decent) guitar like a $80 kramer focus and string it with 12's or 13's. Practice on that for an hour or so before picking up your Rg 1570 for your real practice session... I guarentee you'll FLY all over that thing! Hmm... this thread should be moved to Players Corner.
  21. Welcome back! Yup, weather been freaky! I told'ya about 48th street... not the same as it was in the 80's . Guitar Center, Sam Ash killed it.
  22. Do you have PowerTab installed? Click here. I'll assume you know how to play it as a midi.
  23. The low E is the thickest string.
  24. Hmm... I wonder if they'd sell these stainless steel frets: http://www.petilloguitars.com/frets.html reminds me of the SS "Fret Rails" on the Chapman Stick.
  25. There are also software based tuners out there (free I suppose .) Since you're posting here, I'll assume you have a computer .
