  5. I got the m11/7 mostly finished up over the weekend. I need to get the string block powdercoated, cavity cover material is on order and I need to make another nut because my pit bull somehow got ahold of it and since he loves bones he decided it was his chew toy. Specs include: Model: M11/7 27" scale, Walnut body, Ash top, Arete eliat top color finish, Nitro body finish, Zebrawood neck, PurpleHeart scarf joint laminate, Dark roasted curly maple fretboard, Arabic numeral 7 in bloodwood inlay, Arete mountain headstock inlay, Odies oil neck finish, Medium/jumbo nickel silver fretwire, Bone nut, Hipshot open gear locking tuners, Hipshot 7 string fixed bridge, Black knurled knobs, 1 pickup / 1 volume / 1 tone, Elysian bridge pickup, as as soon as I get those couple things done I'll get it over to my photographer and then it's off to the customer.
  6. I guess I'll go ahead and post up some pics of this one. It is a commissioned build, it's a m11/7 27" scale length 7 string, black walnut body, ash top dyed turquoise blue, Zebrawood neck, PurpleHeart scarf joint laminate, dark roasted curly maple fretboard with the Arabic numeral 7 inlayed at the 11-13th frets in blood wood. It will be getting hipshot 7 string bridge, Elysian pickup, hipshot tuners, 1 volume/1 tone. I have got the neck/fretwork completely finished and oiled in odies oil, all the wood work on the body is finished and dye job has been done. Right now the body has been nitroed and is curing for the next 10 days. once I get the body cut and buffed I can start on assembly and setup. Hoping to have this one finished within the month.

  9. Thank you @Prostheta, it was a true slaughter lol. I have been trying to decide if I want to put the n12 back in this month or save it for later and put my pg17 I just finished up in on this month. I've got a little thinking to do. And congrats to you on the win @Pariahrob
  10. Well... things are gonna be delayed, not sure what happened is a huge bummer.
  11. My work schedule is all screwed up now that I went to nights so I only get to work on guitars Friday to Sunday, I started gluing this one up Friday morning and got it to the dying stage so I figured I'd show it off, I did a light blue to black fade on the top which I think came out awesome! The neck is all done except the mountain inlay, frets and oil. The body is all done and dyed and has now been taken to my painter for clear, I should get it back on the first and I'll get it all assembled and setup. This one and the purple one will be going off to a music video shoot July 7th so I'm in a bit of a time crunch. Specs will be, n12 bolt body shape, sapele body, curly maple top, maple neck, honey roasted curly maple fretboard, 2x4 headstock, hipshot tuners, offset black dots, Arete bridge, graphtech saddles, Elysian modern pickups, 1vol/1tone/3 way toggle.
  12. I'm sure that y'all are probably tired of seeing this one, but I just got my professional photos back from the photographer and wanted to share them, promise this'll be the last time showing this one haha.
  13. Yeah, I've always been an ibanez sz player so anything that had that body style I've loved, if they made them again I'd buy one for sure. Lol. Thank you, I'm super pleased with how that guitar turned out.
  14. I'm not sure how I've missed this thread! Awesome work so far, I also grew up lusting over the mmm1 and was never able to get one lol. Im eager to see how this turns out.

  16. I figure I'll go ahead and try for my first guitar of the month, so here goes. My names Tim, I'm sure a bunch of you know me as 2.5itim around here. I build guitars part time under the name Arete guitars here in the Tulsa area. this is my N12 model there's a build log on this guitar that I'll post at the bottom of this post, my build log is all over the place so good luck finding it lol. this guitar will be going to guitar house of Tulsa to be sold thru them next week after I get professional photos taken care of. specs are as follows. 25.5" scale length, Sapele body, quilted maple top (dyed purple), 3 piece sapele/curly maple neck, curly maple headstock, Birdseye maple fretboard, quilted maple truss rod cover (dyed purple), Arete bridge with graphtech saddles (powdercoated white), Sperzel locking tuners, dual action truss rod, 24 nickel silver medium jumbo frets, suhr ssv neck pickup, suhr ssh+ bridge pickup, 1 volume/1 tone/3 way toggle, odies oil and odies wood butter finish, thanks for looking!! (edit) I hope that this is ok, I just got my professional photos back from the photographer so I'm going to swap my pics out
  17. I also got the curly maple/zw/walnut pg17 to the same place as the n12. I'm totally in love with how these 2 turned out.
  18. An update on the purple quilt top model n12. I've been crazy sick for the past week so trying to avoid sawdust I have been working on things in the house I finally got all the parts together that I needed to finish this one, so I painted the cavities, wired it up, assembled, made the nut, strung it and played it. The only bridge I had here at home had a floor height of .175 and I needed a .125 so I'm gonna mill that down today and then the bridge and string block will be going to get powdercoated white. Also one last thing to do is to make the cavity/truss rod covers and I'll be able to call her done.
  19. I haven't been doing a whole lot on the internet but I've still been pretty busy in the shop, I have a few 7 strings I'm working on I'll post a bit on later but recently I've been working on the 27" 6 string pg17 and figured I'd update a little bit on it. I'm waiting on my evertune templates to come in before I do the body carve so have mainly been focusing on the neck at the moment.
  20. And as for the screw up and fix, I got a new router bit and the bearing wasn't tight so when routing the headstock shape the bearing jumped up over the template and dug into the headstock, with a little guidance from Andrew knight (knightro) I was able to get it all fixed up. I steamed the scarf joint loose, scraped the remainder of the maple off the joint, scarf jointed a new headstock piece of zebrawood, laminated a piece of purpleheart in, and cut the headstock shape again.
  21. This is a model m11 7 string 27" scale commission build that I've been working on, I wasn't planning on posting anything on it till farther along in the build but I had a nice little screw up and fix that I thought I'd share with y'all. It's a walnut body, ash top, zebrawood neck, dark curly roasted maple fretboard that will be getting a Elysian bridge pickup, no neck pickup, hipshot 7 string fixed bridge, hipshot tuners, lmi 2 way truss rod, carbon fiber reinforcements in the neck, 1 volume for controls.
  22. I had a bit more time to work on the ash/cocobolo ta28 before going to play some golf and drink a little beer so I got the pickup cavities cut, rear of the body rounded over and body heel/fret access carved.
  23. I also got the curupay neck and volute carved on the ash/cocobolo ta28. And drilled the tuner holes. Just need to route pickup cavities, drill control holes, install side dot markers, round over the back of the body, nitro the body, oil the neck, fretwork and then it'll hang on the wall until I get the bridge powder coated and buy pickups for it.
  24. Thank you Scott! I got the back of the black/yellow curly maple carve top colored today, I didn't like the purple that it originally came out to be so instead of applying the dye directly to the wood I sprayed it in nitro. I did a mix of 2/3 cup nitro, 1/2 tsp dark mission brown transtint, 1/4tsp black transtint. I really like the way it turned out, it's like a really really dark brown or black or cherry looking depending on lighting. My buddy who I'm building this for wanted the mahogany open poured so no grain filling on this one, I was a bit worried but looks cool in my opinion.
