  1. That's sweet, sexybeast. I think it looks great - clean and elegant.
  2. A bit too over the top for me personally but cool nonetheless. I'm curious - where did you get the on/off switch for LED's?
  3. Cool stuff. Does this guitar have the asymmetrical neck profile and their 4everneck? When are you expecting delivery?
  4. I agree - she needs a smaller waist.
  5. WOW! That is absolutely gorgeous! I love the shape, the woods used, everything! Just saw the guitar version of this as well - beautiful...
  6. Guitars like it when you talk purty to them too - they play and sound better.
  7. Very nice looking combination of woods and I really like the shape and layout. Also, nice detail with the recessed strap locks. GOTM Entry?
  8. On second look, I think I agree with you Drak. Leave the basic design alone. I do think it might need a bit of detail because, as you state, it looks a bit like a prototype. I like the bevel for the right arm - maybe a bit of softening of some of the harder edges? Not sure...
  9. I'm not so sure about what's going on the left hand side of the guitar (the area that would rest against your stomach/chest). It strikes me as if there are two different designs going on here - the left half from one guitar and the right half from another. Also there's something about the overall proportions that suggest a bass more than a guitar but I realize that this is a rough sketch at this point so keep going!
  10. I'd agree with a smoother transition in that area as well.
  11. I also got a hold of the book and read it. Drak thank you for the recommendation. The book really takes the "voodoo" out of finishing. I feel so much more comfortable with this now that I've read this.
  12. That's pretty interesting! I'm looking forward to more information on this project. How is that lower contour on the back? It looks interesting but is it comfortable?
  13. Very nice site! I like the personal feel of it which I think helps convey the fact that you are a custom builder willing to give the customer what they want. I also like the little image next to each section in "About the Guitars". I suggest looking for a different image for the Scale length section because I think its a bit difficult to make out. BTW - Here's another typo. Its under the Construction section of "About the Guitars": "This gives on unsuppressed strength, resistance against warping..." should read "This gives unsurpassed strength, resistance against warping..." Nice work!
  14. Cool idea. Thanks for the tip! I was wondering about a better solution.
  15. Sweet design. I really love the way this is going. I went back to review the topic and I especially like the way the controls are incorporated into the F hole design - very elegant!
  16. That is quite sad but as was mentioned in the 6000 member topic, there aren't a whole lot of active members in the scheme of things. The ones that are active are great - I learn a great deal. Its a shame we don't have more regular contributors though. Oh and Wezv's guitar rocks - love the shape, color and finish!
  17. That's my current thinking as well. Thanks! I'll start making some progress on this project very soon. I'll be going on vacation for a few days soon but start to work on the body thereafter.
  18. So this means a headless guitar (Steinberger type) has a lower compliance, all other factors (scale length, string gauges) being equal, than a conventional guitar with a headstock? Just trying to make sure I understand...
  19. Hey thanks a lot for the feedback. I think sticking with the original project is the way to go.
  20. Understood. This sounds like yet another one of those nuance type things that we tend to get hung up on. Thanks for the input! I think both you and Greg are right - I got hung up on a detail and let it start to sway me away from the overall design. Thanks for setting me straight. Your comments and Greg's have helped me to see past this as an issue and focus on the original design concerns - specifically having a guitar with ergonomic elements. As you state, "sound can always be modified" and since I'll be using an alder body and single coil pickups I shouldn't be too far off the sound to begin with. Ultimately, I'll be happy to have a guitar that's comfortable to me. Maybe when I'm done I'll throw a sustainer in there too.
  21. I've been debating this for the last several days as I've started to revisit various areas of this project. One particular thing that I've been thinking about is pickup location. I'm interested in obtaining a Strat like sound. I have Fender Lace pickups so that's in order. However, a headless 24 fret neck would push the neck pickup out of the typical Strat position SO I'm considering going with a conventional 22 fret neck and Strat type bridge with the Klein body. As a result, I would have my neck pickup in the correct position relative to the overall scale of the guitar. In addition, doing away with the headless design would make it possible to take advantage of a greater selection of neck and bridge options at lower costs when compared to headless guitar components. What do you think? Am I over thinking the neck position issue? Should I stick with the headless design? Does the use of a conventional neck and bridge sound like a reasonable idea? THANKS!
  22. It was called the SPINS strap system if memory serves. It was meant to be mounted at the guitar's center of gravity and aside from ZZ Top's use of it in videos, it was meant to increase the guitarist's comfort.
  23. Here's another cool luthier site: Veillette Guitars - I found the construction details on the acoustic/electrics particularly interesting - Note the use of a single bolt to hold the guitar neck in place and the use of the easily removeable wooden bridge/tailpiece.
