Yes, it's hard to get curly maple here. Hard maple not so difficult.

Rose wood,ebony,very hard to find and expensive.

@mistermikevit must be easier to get certain hardwoods in Arizona than it is here in Louisian.

The poplar that I bought from my local lumber yard was about $85.18 for a 8/4 x 8 ft blank just about wide enough to do a one piece body.

@mistermikev poplar will make a much nicer body than the homedepot construction lumber that I made it out of. The problem with that pine is its not dried good, so it's too soft to hold the neck on with string tention.

@ScottRha ha Yes! Well after a 100+year's I would think that the wood had time to stabilize and probably hardened over time.

I think I will only use yellow pine to build lap steel guitars with.

@ScottRyespecially pine is easy to work but it's just not stable enough for guitars.

Although I have heard that white western pine makes really nice guitar bodies.

Pine was way too soft So I am building a new body from poplar.

This is the partscaster that I built out of pine but the pine was way too so I am building a new body out of poplar.

Well I got power back yesterday around 8:39 am.

However I am waiting for a pair of nippers pliers to arrive in the mail to remove the frets on my SG build.

I did start working on a telecaster body.

@Bizman62I play store bought gibson epiphones and fender teles and starts. I like playing both.

When I build a Gibson style guitar I would like it to be as close to a Gibson as I can without copyright infringement. I eventually want to try my own body shapes and breadstick shapes. But there are so many out there that even originality is almost a copy of something that's already been done.

@bizman62 I am wanting to fix the neck of my SG first.

Then I want to build a Stratocaster, which is a different neck style all together.

I know everybody in the guitar building community knows this.

I also have a Tele that I built the body out of pine and bought a replacement tele neck. But the pine was too soft and the string tention pulled the neck up. So I want to build a Tele body as well.

Yes I am well, working.

The company I work for was not affected by the storm.

I have been charging my phone at work.

I can't wait til they have the power back on. We take for granted all the comforts we have like hot showers after a long days work, or cooking food on an electric stove and so on.

Power outages through out Louisian. Might not have power back until sunday. Hopefully not longer than that but we'll see.

I'm going to take my time fixing this. But we got hit by a hurricane last night and we are without power. So no power tools for now. And as we all know you can't use a soldiering iron without electricity. Maybe a few days before I can do anything to it.

I have order a pair of fretwire snipers some new fretwire.

Someone suggested that I use the snipers to get under the edge of the fret heat it and slowly work the snipers under the fret a little at the time until it is raised out.

Thank you Crusader, I don't know where the piece went. I didn't even notice it chipped off until I check the neck to make sure I got the wooden shims that I glued under the nut to raise it Then saw it was missing a piece.

I think the fretboard was to thick to begin with because I didn't plan the neck blank when I got it.

So it was too thick from the start. Another lesson learned the hard way.

I appreciate the advise.

I am going to have to heat up the frets one by one and remove them.

Then sand the fretboard down and take a little bit more off of the back of the neck to make it less thick.

It feels like a baseball bat Lol...

I will try to heat up frets one at a time and pull them out.

Sand down the fretboard and maybe change the neck profile slightly..

At this point this is all I can do to fix this problem. I thank and appreciate all the suggestions and help.
