  1. Great job! I really love the coloring and design!
  2. Very well done. I really enjoyed that. Thank you for sharing.
  3. Any advice for tapering a thin, figured FB without tear out?
  4. I have prepped my first FB. Used a fret slot miter box for the first time. I learned a lot about what I should not do again mostly, but I think it is useable. I will add some headstock wings and fill the excess I cut on my TR slot. After that, is the next step the glue up?
  5. Lovely tone and impressive build. Very nice playing also. Play it with joy and pride
  6. I made it too long, but I made it. I used the jig I made from the video above
  7. All scarfed up again. Time to take another shot at the TR channel
  8. Thank you. That is very helpful. It will be slight, I was going to go with a slight dip, but an overhang would be less work. Much appreciated!
  9. Mates, Can I glue this up wit this small lip/dip and sand it after, or is there a better way to deal with it beforehand? The differential arises because the cut across was not perfectly even and the thickness of the edge of the headstock piece Thanks for any advice
  10. For my last Tru-Oil finish, I did about 70 coats at about 3 coats a day, at least 4 hours apart. I needed the extra thickness to buff to a high gloss. You seem to have gotten a very high gloss on yours.
  11. That looks amazing. Applying an oil finish is slow, but it is certainly more relaxing than spraying
  12. Swung a leg back over the horse today. The plan is rosewood neck with a flame maple FB made from the failed first attempt. I calibrated my planer and jointer, and tested my scarf cutting jig to see if I could get consistent straight cuts. The blank is square and flat. Hopefully a better start will make for a smoother ride
  13. They say there are always failures on your road to success. Count this blank as a part of the pounded roadway. I will try to use it as a fingerboard for the next attempt, which will start after I my frustration and disappointment subside. Onward!
  14. I am thinking I can use the extra blank material I have here to make a matching FB. Does this seem viable and is there anything I should know in doing so? Thanks for any guidance.
  15. Why do you use laquer thinner over water or alcohol? Deeper penetration?
  16. I found this video helpful and quite entrancing
  17. I really like my Hakko. I have something like this https://www.amazon.com/Hakko-FX888D-23BY-Digital-Soldering-Station/dp/B00ANZRT4M/ref=asc_df_B00ANZRT4M/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=198093934741&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=3740129149273455112&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=t&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9004511&hvtargid=pla-379180582979&psc=1

Beautiful! I love the color. You might find that it grows on you. I also like that they went with the 9.5 radius over the historical 7.25 (personal preference). Congrats on a great guitar!
  19. Thank you. I will consider that option as this does seem like a lot of work!
  20. Mates, I am gonna build this jig for the truss rod channel. I may have some questions about the process once it is dome
