  1. Here's another way of building a 335 without bending sides courtesy of Bluesy. -Vinny http://projectguitar.ibforums.com/index.ph...=37360&st=0
  2. To anyone with the slightest interest in CNC I would say definitly look into it. It's a fast growing hobby with builders freely sharing their ideas, kinda like another forum I know I remember seeing a home built CNC Router online and was amazed that you could build this yourself. -Vinny
  3. I'm using a free trial version of Cut2D from Vetric, (purchase price $150) its a very user friendly program and I was designing my own stuff in no time. Heres a screen shot of a LP file I created. I'll get a build thread going for the CNC, -Vinny
  4. I think its worth it, as Im building not one but two at the same time. A small desktop version for inlays and small plastic signs and a larger 24x36 one for out in the garage for routing bodies, necks and tops etc. One thing I would do differently is to buy an already assembled driver board, I didnt know better when I ordered my kit pkg. Im a bit overwelmed by soldering up an entire board, one mistake and poof! You're knocked back in your plans. Dont ask my why I know this. I feel theres no glory in assembling delicate circuts when there are already assembled versions available. My CNC Table is still sitting drawn on paper. I feel I'd have the table halfway built if not still finishing building the board. If there's interest I was considering posting a build thread in the tools section. If I can help please ask away. -Vinny
  5. Here is a on-line design I came across: http://www.highlandwoodworking.com/index.a...ustom&ID=88
  6. Todd beat me to it, I'd definitly shop the Craigslist Tool section, there was a 14'' grizzley listed that I wish I had the room for. Was a third $ of the cost when new. -Vinny
  7. Beautiful work! I dig blue flame top guitars, -Vinny
  8. Hi David and Greetings from New York, Your build sounds like it be a nice one, theres lots of info here and great people waiting to jump in and help. keep us posted, -Vinny
  9. Hey Mojo, Dad nailed it a few posts up, I can speak from first hand experience. My second was for my 10 y.o. son (he drew the design)and from the connection we share thru that guitar it is truly priceless. Put a value on the third one, not this one. Best regards, -Vinny
  10. Thanks to everyone for the advice. Erik, that exacyly what it looks like. -Vinny
  11. Hi Gang, Im a self-admitted tool junkie and have just about all I need to make bodies and necks in the garage. There happens to be a Radial Arm Saw for sale locally and I trying to decide if I really need one or is it that little inside gremlin saying get it, hee he get it. The Model is a Sears 10'' and very good shape, the price is $75 USD. I have the Stew Mac fret slotting blade for the table saw and I made a sled to cut boards with it. I recall some builders instaling the same blade in their Radial Saw too. Im building solid body electrics and arhtops, and plan to make acoustics, the tools on hand are a table saw, 9'' band saw, router table, jointer, planer, drill press and varoius power hand tools. What can I use this saw for in guitar making? -Thanks, Vinny

Its a good hour long so ice up a few cold ones and get comfortable-Vinny http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4764707652331081865

  19. Hey I saw Melvyn's book in there on one of those pics ! -A must have for any new builder. -Vinny
  20. Thanks for helping, I'll go with a combination of a lot of what you guys mentioned, wall shelves and under table storage and leave a few boards long to use as actual shelfs. A few of the long raw boards have knots and I need to get them cut down to whats usable. I plan on pulling everything out of the garage and ripping/planing the raw pieces down to good stock. It should take up less room and get it better organized. Wait, then I'll have room to get more wood....... he he (W.A.S. evil laugh) -Vinny Update: I went to Home Depot last night and purchased a bunch of slotted wall tracks and slip-in type shelf brackets. They had nice heavy duty twin wall brackets that look very sturdy. I plan on having it assembled over the weekend. I'll put up some pics.
  21. I was looking at that Rick, the reviews on it are good too. -Vinny
