You can do them all with the trem. To get the full motion you have to do some slight modifications in the trem cavity. The modifications can be done with a Dremel or similar tool.

The sustain is better because the bridge is permanently attached to the body. This equates to better string vibration transfer to the body.

Trem King released a new model the TH-3 to modify a guitar without a tremolo. I have the chrome version in stock and can special order black and gold.

Is it an ebony fret board? If so, it probably did not have the desired color so they died it. That is what you are getting on your fingers.

It is done in 4 parts. 1. Stain the body black 2. Spray the body with a couple wash coats of lacquer 3. Mix white universal colorant in clear grain filler and fill the pours with it 4. Back sand till you get the effect you want.

I think they look really nice. I have lots of veneer and wondered what to do with it and the dilemma is over.

Take a look at the Trem King or Super-Vee tremolo's. Tremking is a fixed bridge tremolo and pivits on a center bridge pin. The Super-Vee has a locking nut but no modifications are needed to your neck.
