  1. I am looking to purchase a good set or an individual Chrome PAF style humbucker pickups
  2. The bank in my town is reclaiming our home and we must be out by Jan5 of 08 I don't want to put the project "pedal-to-the-metal" and risk fuking it all up. I bought a small toolbox at a 2nd hand store for $5. I have 1 interchangeable bit screwdriver and customized bit set numerous allen wrenches and one full allen set will soon be replaced by swiss army knife style hex key set 2 needle nose pliers 2 wire cutters 1 pair of pliers 1 pair of mini locking pliers 3 wire strippers 1 mini bar clamp 1 2" C clamp and a mini ziplock baggie (the kind extra shirt buttons come in) with the other soldering iron tips anything else I need? My drill press will be in my brother in laws garage and a coping saw will be bought when I get to that stage.
  3. Rick they are the same size as they are on the paper that you printed the plan on. (I taped it up the best I could)
  4. How thick are inlays??? I plan to make wood inlays and I need to know so I can cut the right size and thickness of wood.
  5. UPDATE I got Rick500's cocobolo fretboard, TR cover blank, knob blank and a LP plan is the mail yesterday. To quote davisguitars own words. I have to wait til school starts to have a guitar builder as well as teacher Mr. Fudge(whose real name DG forgot) to get it slotted. But that leaves me time to find poplar big enough for the body and maple big enough for the neck.
  6. I built the holder for the drill using what was a signpost for a garage sale sign, a piece of scrapwood and a piece of bent metal nailed to the scrapwood and screwed on the other side so the drill was tightly in position. Does anyone have any ideas of what I should use for the other end of the lathe???????? I only plan to be turning knobs and maybe a fancy pen or two.
  7. since I got my drill press my Black&Decker hand drill hasn't been used much at all.I have modified a plan designed for scale models and modify it for turning knobs on 1-1/16"x13/16"x4" wood to pen blanks
  8. I don't think the locally owned and operated hardware store has pine 2X4s but I'll have to check. I might as well go with maple since it's one of the plentiful types of tree here in Iowa. Sugar Maple makes some damn good syrup too.
  9. Rick500 is helping me with the plans. I just want to know if using a cut down 2X4 for a set neck is plausible.
  10. OK first off could I just buy a 2X4 and cut it down to 26" and try to scarf join it or should I just buy some maple in the dimensions needed?????? What would the dimensions be for neck blank for a les paul??????
  11. I must say a body that flows with the design of that neck would be KILLER
  12. I decided to go with GFS crunchy PAF HOT Chrome pickups
  13. 2 walnut pickup rings for a flat-top solidbody. Sure go ahead and CNC it doesn't matter to me. How many $ ?????
  14. I plan on ordering my PAF pickups either from the GFS store or a GFS ebay auction. Which PAF from GFS would you guys reccomend?
  15. I need some 1/8" thick walnut for my Les Paul project. I'm going to make humbucker rings using Mykas method: New semi-hollow electric project.
  16. output jack is already aquired along with a plate from GFS
  17. OK I'm going to be building my version of a les paul (the orginal guitar I was working on played humpty dumpty and had a great fall off the workbench) My idea is to use a strat length (25.5") fretboard (cocobolo) on the guitar. Is this a good idea and would it work without me having to lengthen the body? PARTS LIST cocobolo fretboard ( thanks Rick500) fretwire truss rod stewmac neck blank 19" X 14" X 2" maple wood ( actually will be two 19" X 7" X 2" pieces of maple glued up.) 2 GFS Crunchy PAF HOT humbuckers badass style bridge ( thanks METALMATT) chrome tuners cocobolo knobs ( thanks Rick500) LP style toggle selector switch 2 250k pots capacitors copper shielding tape cocobolo humbucker mounting rings ( thanks bentwood999) control cavity cover screws for control cavity cover thin cocobolo for wood truss rod cover ( thanks Rick500) screws for truss rod cover nut strap buttons + screws And my finish will most likely be some sort of furniture stain or tung oil
  18. dremel are OK for binding and inlay with guitars. not much else to my knowledge
