  1. Sorry guys, but I have one more question. I was looking at that site again, and I thought that the fingerboards were pre-slotted. But it only says they are cut for the inlay. The picture shows that it is also slotted, but is it? Just double checking....I wanted it to be pre-slotted so I can see where to cut when I re-slot. This may be a dumb question after what I previously wrote, but is it cut for both the inlay and the slots? Sorry for adding this at the end....and thanks again.
  2. ^ Maybe I'll do that. Instead of switching the entire neck, I'll just put on a new fingerboard. Thanks guys.
  3. Sorry if this is a dumb question......but is it possible to change a guitar with 22 frets so that it has 24 frets? Could I just replace the neck with a 24 fret one if they are the same scale (ie. 25.5")? Not sure if this would work because the distance to the bridge might be slightly longer, messing up the tuning or something. Just curious, anybody have any ideas? Thanks
  4. Thanks for the help guys. Looks like I'll have to buy the right saw to slot the frets, but hopefully I can still make it work.
  5. Hola. I've been thinking about getting this inlay/fingerboard combo for a jem style neck-Tree of Life Inlay The fingerboard is slotted for fret wire and is already cut to fit the inlay. And the inlay is also pre-cut. My question: is the inlay in separate pieces, or is it one large solid piece? If it is one piece will this fill the slots for the frets. I don't want to have to put in the inlays and then re-cut the slots. If anyone has used these items, I would be grateful for any comments. Thanks.
  6. Looks great! And I think it looks good with the red like that. Leave it just as it is, and don't do anything to the pickguard.
  7. Beautiful! Love the spalted top. Personally, I wouldn't tint the sides though, it looks perfect as is!
  8. That's beautiful! I love maple tops on this kind of guitar. Nice work.
  9. Nice guitar! And I'm lovin' the hollow explorer......never saw anything like that! Decide how you're going to paint it?
  10. Nice work! Inspiration for newbies like me.... :
  11. That was pretty ugly, no offense if you like that guitar. I actually like the BC Rich Beast for an 'evil' guitar. Nice song though.
  12. Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but hope it helps. I've never tried it but it could look cool. Universal Jems Holoflash
  13. Thanks for the help. I'm new to building and don't have the right tools to make a tremelo cavity (or the money for a floyd type bridge ). Thought taking a neck from one guitar might be cheaper and easier....but it still sounds complicated getting a special kind of bridge. I think I'll just wait until I can find/make a neck with a regular nut. Thanks again.
  14. Sorry if this is a dumb question....I've searched the forum and found that it is dumb to use a regular nut with a floyd rose bridge. But what about the opposite? Is there anything wrong with using a neck that has locking nut if there is not a tremelo? Can I remove a neck from a floyd equipped guitar and put in on a body with a tune-o-matic/stopbar setup? I'm a newbie and not sure if this would work.....
  15. Here's another thread from the forum. It's for a different design, but it might help. http://projectguitar.ibforums.com/index.ph...topic=13706&hl=
  16. Sorry, I thought I had searched the whole forum, but guessed I missed some parts. Found the drying times and everything, but now I have another question. There is lots of info about using krylon for the body, but can you also use it to paint the neck? I was hoping I could use the same paint to make the neck white. Do you use the same methods as for the body?
  17. Sorry in advance for the newbie questions.......I am planning on finishing my first guitar (a saga kit) and want to do a bullseye design using Krylon acrylic lacquer spray cans. I know how to get the design but I am not sure about how to use the paint. I've searched the forum and saw that its recommended to use at least five or so coats of the base colors and then the same for the clear coat. I sand/recoat about 30 minutes after each coat. Did I get that right? Then my main question-how long is the curing time? When can I shine it and play it? Does Krlyon take a full month to dry or is that for other types of paint? Any advice would be great and sorry again for the dumb questions.
