I agree, none of the above!
My list would be
Dimebag Darrell
Jeff Loomis
Pat O'Brien
James Hetfield
Dave Mustaine
Scott Ian
Rocky George
Remember being a great guitarist means more than just being able to shred.
IMHO
V's Are the best for comfort and looks
Warlocks - not bad
Beast - cool
Explorer - cool
Super strats - eh...
Strats - yuck
Les Paul (throws up)
SG (throws up again)
Telecasters (hangs self)
Well personally I could care less how you draw up your designs (dern snobs!). But it looks like a Fliceman (Parker Fly / Ibanez Iceman). And I like neither, so this is not for me. But if you like it that is ALL that counts bro! PERIOD!
Also, you probably will never, ever see a guitar like this again. So it will be unique! Build it man!
Personally, I don't like Derrick Green's voice (new Sepultura), so I haven't bought anything after Roots. I like Dark Ages by Soulfly, but don't feel it is great. Now Sepultura's Arise is a masterpiece of metal, hands down...
Hey Matt, nice git bro! I think that for balance, as long as you have the bottom strap knob towards the center of the body and then the other strap knob behind the neck you should be ok for balance. As for the headstock, this git is screaming for a reverse bro!!! Really wicked and curved
What I can see is the guitar painted flat black but have the top be a dark grey. That would look really nice! Maybe have the top a grey, the bevels a darker grey and the rest black...
Yeah it is not overly original that is for sure. I love the V shape, it is the most comfortable design for me play both standing up and sitting down. When I saw the Bernie Rico Vixen design I loved it except for the headstock. And I love the Beast headstock. Kerry King of Slayer has V's with the Beast headstock and they are killer! But then I wanted something different from what KK has. So I guess you can chock it up to lack of imagination! hahahahaha
Oh and Ben I TOTALLY agree with you. It will be much more interesting when it starts getting made. I just heard from John at FK that the wood and truss rod arrived TODAY! (gets chills)
Well about originality John and I came up with this design called the Firebird. He is making a bass like this, but I made it more pointy and guitarish. Whattaya think?
(So far) Mine is my ESP LTD DV8-R Dave Mustaine Signature model V. I swapped out the duncans and put in EMG 81/85. Very comfortable to play and the playing is literally effortless...
I usually headbang because I am so into it. But it is a bit harder since I shave my head. Yet, I digress...
But I did read an interview with Ace Frehley and he said that when he would just let it all out and run around like a madman everyone would tell him he played a great show. But when he would tone it down and concentrate on his playing, he would get told he had an "off" night.
Yeah that is pretty much the same body shape. I believe the original body design is from Bernie Rico Jr, but I could be wrong. Either way it is a beaut!!!
Hey thanks bro!! Yeah it is not as original, by any means, as John's designs but it makes me just sit and stare at it...so that must be a good thing huh? hahahaha
This is a design I am working on with John of Flon Klar Guitars. I borrowed the body design from the Vixen (Bernie Rico, Jr. Guitars) and the headstock from a Beast (BC Rich). I always wanted a V with a Beast headstock, but didn't want just a straight King V body.
Mahongany neckthru body
Mahogany neck
String-thru body design
Ebony fingerboard (no inlays)
Sperzel locking tuners
GraphTech graphite nut
EMG 81 or 85 pickup (haven't made up mind yet)
No knobs, just an on/off killswitch
TonePros locking bridge
Neutrik locking jack
attached are the outline and then a pic I made combining both guitars.
Hey MzI I am fairly new here so I don't know all the personalities yet. But what kind of music do you play? You say it sounds great for what you are playing, I am just curious as to what that is! Beautiful axe man, bee yooo teee full! I am a V man myself...
Wow that is a bad arse git! Do you what tuning he will be in? The only ones I have seen that use 8-string gits are Meshuggah and they are in F# I believe...
I have played this bass and the huge slashing headstock does not interefere whatsoever! It looks amazing and it can house the strings just like any other headstock.
