  1. Green tomato splat for you!
  2. I don't think so. It will not seal it well enough to prevent moisture from working it's way in and possibly causing it to warp. I would use a harder finish like a lacquer or polyurethane. What is the back of the neck finished with?
  3. If it is built like a Strat where the pickups are mounted on a spring held by a pickguard it shouldn't make a difference!
  4. This gives an example of neck thickness. You have to keep it strong enough, so it can't be to thin. I have one neck at 3/4" and one 1" on my basses. The 3/4" is a jazz bass. Very fast neck, but seems a little weak. You can sand your neck to a thickness your comfortable. Many here use spoke shaves to shape the neck and finish by sanding. Hope this helps!
  5. Not best or worse but definitely most liquer! Saw Santana just before Supernatural came out. My buddy and I pushed his drunk, good looking wife on the stage. She started dancing and Carlos stepped back while security made her get off. Carlos played on not missing a beat. After he came over and handed us picks. It was too cool and a great concert to boot!
  6. The wood underneath the present finish will give you a better idea as to what you decide the final outcome. Not all woods look good with a natural finish. As far as adding a solid color to the nitrocellulose I have not heard of it being done that way. Normally the color is painted on and the clear finish is painted on afterwards. There are quite a few different finishes. Some people like nitro, some like polyurethane, lacquer and there are more. It depends on what you want. If the wood on the guitar is nice you can clear coat it or oil it. But after all that I am not an expert on finishing. You can wait for more answers or keep looking on this topic by reading some of the posts under this topic. Good luck; Hope it helps. Welcome to the forum too!
  7. I like Al Dimeola, Gary Hoey, and Steve Morse. Non of whom is on the list. Edit: Also Steve Howe, Alvin Lee, and Alex Lifeson.
  8. The best was Zepplin in '75 in SanDiego. They played for 4 hours. The worst would have to be Queen in '76-77. Technically incredible, sound perfect, Night at the Opera was the show. Only problem that was all they played, no encore, nothing from there earlier albums. Lick for lick with the album, but only 45 minutes long and the tickets were $20.00 and unheard of at that time.
  9. A round rasp should work, or find something cylindrical and wrap coarse sandpaper around it and sand away.
  10. As far as pick ups go. You do not need noiseless pu's if you wire it the way Guitar Nuts shows for Quieting the Beast . I have cheap pu's in my strat and their is absloutely no noise. Here
  11. I like the logo on on your site. It is simple and to the point. Do you have T shirts with this design already? I would wear one.
  12. I could not find a definite answer, but you could try it on test piece. I know it will work with something like a Minwax Polycrylic (which incedenly dries clearer than Minwax Polyurethane).
  13. Have you checked the height of those frets in question? There are a couple of things that can be causing this. The nut could be cut too low. The frets too high. Style of playing. More info is needed. Also wait for more answers from some of the more experienced.
  14. February and have not even started.
  15. The person who bought it got a steal of a deal. I always loved that one. Keep em coming Lex.
  16. I think as long as you install a stereo jack and wire accordingly you will get output to both sides of the headset. Obviously the sound will not be in stereo though! You could froget about the headset plug and jack and wire direct to the effects box's leads, but you would have permanent headphones on your effects pedal.
  17. Look here for some great Strat custom wiring projects
  18. "... Spanish Cedro is a flamed Mahogany with the rich, reddish color of cedar. We have matched this top with a fine set of Walnut for the back and sides." www.pantheonguitars.com/guitars/guitars I pulled this quote off a google search. I hope this helps answer the question!
  19. Now is all I gotta do is get my lead guitarist to read this thread! He feels bass is for rythem only! He grew up playing bluegrass. Damned hillbilly doesn't like rock or jazz!
  20. Am i the only one who thinks that the Firebirds are neck heavy? Or maybe it was the the extra scale length of my old "F" bass! It wasn't even playable!
  21. Great looking axes, and another Michael Schenker lover to boot!
