  1. For $200 I'd buy a women for two nights and keep the guitars I have.
  2. http://www.ybafool.com/contests/JuneJuly.htm Take a look. player :
  3. Thank god for the rain or everyone would come up this way for our wood. It does fall out of the sky on windy days.
  4. Sorry! I am not trying to tease, but I am technically challenged. If somebody could give directions so I can be unlost I would really appreciate it. Hey, anyway the pics aren't that great anyway so your not missing much. LOL Thanks in advance if anyone can show me the way.
  5. Someday I'll figure how to put pics up here. I just don't get it. Wahh! Figured it out, please see below.
  6. I built this guitar using the idea of fabric as a finish. I found a site that does marbled fabric and liked the looks. The body is mahogany with very rough routing making it hard to cover wih the pickguard which is slightly off centered. I used Minwax polyurethane spray over Minwax polyurethane sanding sealer. The fabric was applied as the tutorial. I purchased it on ebay with bridge and jack for $15.00. The neck is an old Boogie Bodies neck that was laying around their shop. It is maple on rosewood, one piece, 14" radius. Bought pickups and pickguard
  7. I found sanding sealer worked great instead of Mod Podge. The Mod Podge dried like diamonds. Hard to sand. I used Titebond ll and had good luck removing my first piece of cloth I ruined due to sand through of the Mod Podge.
  8. Thanks for the input. If I would have thought about it I shouda trademarked my initials Wes W. W ilson
  9. I am 47 and fairly new to the forum. I used to be a tug captain. Too many knee injuries stops me from doing that anymore. So, I do nothing-well almost nothing. I play all the time and build or think of building guitars when I'm not reading the forum. I live in Washington and spend a lot of time indoors cause the rain. LOL. Soon as I get some web space I will post my pics of my last project. It is the Strat copy in the avatar. It is mahogany with marbled cloth and polyurethane finish. The neck is an old Bogie Bodies neck that I built while spending time at their shop building my first guitar.
  10. You should be able to find bushings and matched machine screws that are similar to the bushings shown in Stew Mac. I got mine from a company at Tacoma Screw http://www.tacomascrew.com/default.htm. If you can't find them locally these guys have just about everything having to do with fasteners. Good luck.
  11. Derek, Great prices on the Floyds. Will be purchasing soon. I would like to know diffences between the Original and Pro. Thanks. My name is also Wes and I used my initials because Westhemann beat me to my name.
  12. I have used the same method with success. Maybe use larger nails to mark with. Large enough so they don't have room to be off centered with the holes on the body. Any wiggle room could lead to your problem. Good luck.
  13. Has anyone used the Dremel, Stew Mac, Roy Nobel router bases? If so what are advantages and disavantages? The Dremel base is much less expensive. Are the extra $$$ worth spending for the other bases?
  14. OOOPS! Should of been in the painting and finishing forum. Thats what happens when you don't sleep.
  15. Has anyone had any luck painting a fretboard? I have a maple on maple neck. The board has cracks and broken pieces that have been repaired, although unsightly, it is structually sound. It is still raw (no radius). I was thinking of an epoxy paint, but I was unsure if I do this, do I set the frets on top of the epoxy? Do I need to use epoxy? I think it might be too thick! But, I need the strength to hold the small broken pieces on that will probably not hold when I fret the neck. It is a 27 fret neck and replacing the fingerboard is not an option financially.
  16. Thanks for the info. I will use it wisely.
  17. Does anyone know where one can purchase brass frets, and does the brass wear so quick as to not be worth the trouble?? Any help would be appreciated.
  18. TO: canuckguitarist I am pretty sure cocobolo is the wood you are refering to. Many mfg. won't use it because of toxicity. It sands so wonderful though. Boogie Bodies guitars made a whole series of guitars using this wood. It leaves sawdust that is gold colored.
  19. To new VanHalen5150, stewmac.com is a good place to start and ebay is another place to look. I just completed my first guitar from parts from both sites. Stewart Macdonald is pricy though and the nail you for shipping.
