  1. Part quarter and part flat sawn I believe would be RIFT sawn which is acceptable to use for a body. I built a walnut bodied strat style body and I wish I never sold it! It is nice to work with and IMO sounds great.
  2. I would talk to Tommy before using Warmoth. Just my opinion, but there is no comparison. USACustom Guitars is the definately the place to go. I am not flaming Warmoth. I just don't think they can match the service.
  3. Do you have the abilites to rout? If so you can buy a body blank and do your own routing to match the neck. You could look at bodies from somplace like USA Custom Guitars and ask them not to do the routing. Than you can place the parts where they belong. Just a thought.
  4. Here! Look under "players" and see some of Kevin's guitars
  5. Hey, BigD. You should move to the northwest. That stuff grows on trees up here!
  6. I recently bought and thoroughly enjoy my Traynor YBA-200 with the matching cab YBX 1510. It is bullet proof and has fantastic sounds. Low cost compared to Ampeg or SWR with a (I believe) a better warranty. Look here!
  7. Right hand and left hand!
  8. I am using a brush with water based lacquer on my caribburst bass. Hopefully I'll have an air compressor and gun for the next job.
  9. I do that with all my basses. Plus I use 3300 micro grit to buff the satin out some more. It works slick.
  10. I like the body design. Not so sure about leather though?? No real problem with it, but just not sure. Maybe when you're done with the tooling i'll make up my mind.
  11. I too am surprised at how long (short) you have have been building. Your Leviathan is one of the best designs I've seen since PRS guitars came out. I wish you well on your continued journey and hope you go far. I'm sure you will.
  12. I'm doing it right now with figured maple. The billets are on their first year of drying. Now I am saving for a bandsaw big enough to resaw it. It would have been cheaper just to buy the wood already cut and dried!
  13. Looks great. The pickup positions seem awful close though. ??
  14. Let's just agree on it's Atomic number: 13 The guitar is still a fine piece of work!
  15. I don't think acetone will work very well. It will melt away the binding. A lacquer remover would be best, but I'm not sure about the binding even then. Sanding is the other alternative. Tuning machines can be found at many places. Do a search for tuning machines and I'm sure you'll come up with something. Try Here, or here
  16. Just a hint! It looked like you were sanding against the grain in some spots. I noticed this in a close up of one of your pics. Try to sand with the grain at all times. It will help you when you are trying to put your finish on. Any sanding across the grain will show up badly when finished.
  17. Lookin good. Now you can send it to me so I can tell you if it plays as good as it looks.
