  1. that is some nice work man. Can we see the inside, how you mounted the vamp and power amps?
  2. Now that its Spring Break..and my neck is FINALLY nearing completion... i need to start finishing up the 2 bodies I've done. A few questions: Brian, in a thread about direct mounting EMGS you said Can you maybe explain this a lil better? Or maybe add some diagrams? I remember in another thread someone asked about ferrules for neck mounting screws, are these totally necessary? Anyone have a source for ferrules, that isn't stewmac expensive . Also, how would I calculate good length screws to go thru the neck pocket and neck, but not fretboard. I guess just body thickness + neck thickness? What does everyone else generally use? Does anyone have any extra mounting screws for EMGs humbuckers. I lost one. Also, the sleeve thingy for floyds. You know the sleeve that the pivot screw screws into. I don't know if I wanna pull out the ones in my jackson just yet. (Assuming everything goes to crap...i'm just gonna put everything back on my jackson). Thanks
  3. ^... you'd think ..i woulda thought of that . Great idea. If its not too late, I'll see if I can get that. Thanks
  4. no top. Curtis..theres 3 slightly different variations of it. Look closely. Anyway. I've decided to just stick w/ the original.
  5. See One is what its supposed to be. Its that lil bit of maple that looks wierd. My neck builder got a lil over zealous with the Bubigina strip . *sigh* i dunno what i want
  6. at the time of the pics i hadn't routed at all for the cavity covers. Just the cavities themselves. about the neck; i'm gonna wait til i get the neck before i decide what needs to be done with it. about the pics; my sis took my digital camera for a while
  7. thats what i was gonna say. I respect what he did. And the talent behind it....but... WHY?
  8. its the # of pickups + control layout that makes a the JPM *NOT* a jem.
  9. CA? I was planning on getting some veneer and dyeing the top..so the top doesn't matter TOOO much. But the fissures on the back do...
  10. you kinda need to do like http://home.rgv.rr.com/kingv1474/100_FUJI/.../3/DSCF0001.JPG see how the rout area goes beyond the trempost are (though i haven't done that yet)
  11. http://home.rgv.rr.com/kingv1474/100_FUJI/3/ Has the pictures. #2, 3, 5, 7 show some fissures that have crept up on me... Any ideas? I read in a Stewmac tutorial that that kinda crap is normal for alder? What am I supposed to do? Should I go deeper w/ the cutways near the neck pocket? Any opinions? Words of hatred? Encouragement? Oh..i damped the wood down to bring out the fibers that are loose and what not. Hence the wet appearnce in some pics, and dry in others >
  12. Bought me a new drill thats not cordless. I had a battery powered Black'n'Decker that would crap out after like 20minutes of hardcore use (like using the woodchuck). Ryobi 3/8" Variable Speed Drill/Driver http://www.ryobitools.com/product/product....cat=2&toolcat=1 And a sanding disc kit (the drill attachment and some sheets) + 40grit sheets. I did the arm rest and body contours tonite. The sanding disc = AWESOME Takes of a lot of wood..fast. I had a nice lil dust pile built up. I just have to clean it up by hand, I guess. But it did a lot of the work...so..thats awesome.
  13. Electronics: Soldering Iron Solder Solder remover (braid or sucker thingy) Multimeter Wire Wire stripper Shielding stuff, (that conductive paint is the best thing) Hardware setup: Allen wrenches Screwdrivers String winder Fret stuff: No clue really. I guess those fret sanding thingys. The crowning stuff. Assorted rags/cloths/polishes/cleaners..
  14. oh i'm worrying because I commissioned Derek to build MY neck.
  15. Anyone know how I should do the arm rest and contours? I'm thinking just using my router and shaving it off? Mainly because I dont wanna get a sander But if I should get a sander,..what kind? Belt? sanding disc for a drill?
  16. I'm gonna wait til i get the neck, before i start messing more w/ the pocket. *HINT HINT* and I went w/ a small drum sanding attatchment and sanding that crap down (the trem area) and added some ...cutaway thingys on the upper and lower horn, like on Jackson Dinkys. Like
  17. oh ...mmm for single coils... i wouldn't know i'm sure theres some around here somewhere. or at guitarbuild.com in CAD form.
