  1. or u can just get EMGs and not worry about pole spacing of cousre then u get the 'i'm an active pickup, and i make a lot of the guitars i'm in sound the same.'
  2. ^ you can't just add speakers whilly-nilly. You need to take into account resistance (Ohms) and what the power amp can or cannot handle. You may end up blowing a speaker or worse your amp.
  3. u mean screw it in from inside the neck pocket? That should work, as long as you countersink the screwheads, so they don't interfere w/ the neck placement at all. I think if you just make it a good snug fit, and use the right amount of glue and let it cure enough. That + the paint/laquer should keep it in place.
  4. that i wouldn't know. i wouldn't go w/ screws though, because they might show up on the finish.
  5. nice. i just hope my guitar comes out looking alright .
  6. it might have a lil screw on the side. might need a tiny screwdriver (like the ones for eye glasses) I dunno what kinda knobs u have. So either it might have the screw, and u forgot to loosen it (becareful u don't totally unscrew it...u may lose it). Or you might just have to get some leverage some how to pop off the push on type.
  7. if ur set on the EMG 707. It should come w/ all new electronics (exept switch, which you say u wont need) So yeah. Pull it all out, becareful though. Cuz you may want to reuse those in another guitar or maybe sell them. Do you know how to solder and desolder?
  8. well getting a piece of wood the same type thats the guitar is made out of is the best bet. BUt i personally don't know how a different wood would sound like that when used like that. And yeah...use woodglue/putty/filler (thats sandable and stain/paint-able) to secure it in place and make everything flush.
  9. if its just gonna be black. just get a wood block to fill cut to fit for the pickup cavity. and a dowel the right size for the toggle selector (if its a 3way gibson style), or maybe wood filler/putty would be best for a blade style. theres a few tutorials about how to strip a surface and refinish it. $$ wise. I wouldn't know. Figure around $20 for parts + whats an EMG707 go for these days? 90? $110 maybe.
  10. u'll need a new lil metal thing that holds the pickup. or widen the slot for hum. and probably route out the hum shape ..i've never seen the inside of a tele..so i dunno how its routed. and a hum thats shaped for it. Because the both things are angled. i think they're called twangbuckers. oh or you could always get a single coil sized humbucker: http://dimarzio.com/tele.html twangbuckers http://www.riograndepickups.com/3.html
  11. Got my Carvin Alder body blank. Got an MDF template (shape+back routes) Got a plywood template (front routes) Now.. I think I just need the tools? :-D http://home.rgv.rr.com/kingv1474/ <--pics of my Templates. Haven't uploaded pics of the body blank (but i'm sure yall know what those look likes)
  12. for the drill size, ur gonna need to find out what size these lil suckers are http://www.warmoth.com/Guitar/Hardware/Str...tringFerrls.htm I gather those keep the string from digging into the wood and/or getting cut by the wood.
  13. well what neck is it? Is it a jackson made neck? If so, all their necks are pretty much 25.5. And the bodies also. So ur good to go. If its another brand neck, what brand? I think you can also measure from the inside of the nut (0 fret) to the 12th fret. and double that. That should give you ur scale length.
  14. www.jpmsite.com It has specs there. There was no Ibanez JPM-7string (not production anyway, a prototype or two exists though. Along w/ a prototype w/ a piezo)
  15. convert inches to mm 1in = 25.4mm or just go to the store and buy a new bit
  16. get urself a popup blocker. www.meaya.com (popup blocker) www.mozilla.org (i use Firebird browser, built in popup blocking) www.zonealarm.com (firewall w/ popup blocking)
  17. those shiny paint pens. I'd clear over it. but i'd prolly test it first, on scrap painted wood. see if the laquer or whatever you put on it eats the paint pen or what.
  18. I have read several. Which one are you referring to? I would like to read it as well. http://projectguitar.com/tut/veneer.htm
  19. i think people use these things called spokeshaves? Never seen one myself, but read about them here.
  20. kewl. can you explain how it works though? like ...the questions I brought up a few posts up.
  21. The center of the stud? And you also recess it right? So neck angles aren't an issue. How deep do ya go?
