  1. alright so I recently acquired a large quantity of a wood called snakewood or leopard wood from what I've read its a denser, harder version of lacewood (more or less ) anyways I was wondering it would be remotely possible to use this as a neck or if the tearout etc wood be too much of a pain either way I've got 11 ft of it so I have like 10 tops worth of the stuff if all else fails any help would be appreciated thanks.
  2. well I didnt read the posts very well but I caught something about someone needing to know what size hole to drill so something can thread or something along those lines anyways these might help and they're free: http://www.billetproof.com/downloads/techcards.htm check out the drill and tap size card taps are what you run through a hole to thread it.
  3. *if* I remember correctly theres 2 one thats just multi fx and another thats the fx and the on board recorder I'm sure both use the same fx processor. I havent played one since I had any appreciation for tone but I liked it cause it was versatile.
  4. not to be a pain or anything and I dunno where your located but when I started my Mcarty rip off I just wandered down to guitar center and carefully measured one guy was totally cool about it wanted to know what I was usin for materials and all that so maybe if theres a store nearby you can confirm them that way.
  5. I was really hopin you guys would say something other than that tracking knob I've since playe with it for like...infinity +1 oh well time to go play with it some more I guess thanks guys.
  6. Alright so I picked up a belt sander in exchange for some work on a truck anyways problem first time I plug it in and fire it up throws the belt off so I figured gee thats standard oh well after I screwed around a little bit I figured out that you pull back on a lever that brings that unpowered metal drum back you slip the belt on and then push the lever down again and the drum goes forward so I was like ok cool fire it up again throws the belt...repeat for quite awhile so I'm not entirely sure how to get the belt to stay on help would be appreciated thanks.
  7. I trade work for tools yesterday I worked on a guys truck for 5 hours and got a milwaukie belt sander, Porter Cable random orbit sander, and a hand plane, before that someone gave me a router cause they had 2 so I got a free 1 3/4hp craftsman router I love horse trading lol.
  8. yea I'm pretty sold on a PAF pro in the neck bridge I'm still up in the air about.
  9. I'd have to say snork is mildly insane dont forget to sharpen a spoon to really hog the material off, if i were in your position I think I'd find the old guy with the fully loaded woodshop trust me theres one around there somewhere and use his tools.
  10. hey guys thanks especially that drill tip lots cheaper than buying another angle grinder man I burn through those things.
  11. alright I was staring blankly at my maple top tonight that I'm using for my project and just wondering how to carve it I've heard the angle grinder and spoke shave versions just wondering if it can be done with anything else I have a small surform and a trillion or so rasps so if they can be used an explanation would be great? And I was wondering if you carve a rebate (with a rabbeting bit for instance) all the way around the body. shoulda done a single cut.....oh well lol.

  22. ok I was lookin at ibanez necks and noticed they are 43mm at the 1st fret and 56 or 63 or something like that at the last fret does this really matter? and how do you cut the neck like that? thanks
  23. yea thats what i understand the string ferrules do and ummm duh lol I cant believe I didnt think to just measure one of those feelin mildly retarded at this point and yet another question does anyone know if any ibanez guitars that have wizard necks that have this bridge design?
  24. how big are the holes? straightness and all that arent a problem I work in a machine shop so basically I need to know what drill bit to use so the placement of the string holes is more aesthetic than anything because I noticed on the non-ltd stephen carpenter they're staggered whereareas on the ltd and lower end ones they're in a straight line.
  25. thanks wes thats what I thought it was called now anyways is there any formula or anything to figure out where you place the holes for the strings?
