  1. I wanted to teach myself how to build a neck, i have all the tools, just no wood... So i decided i might make a few practice ones with like pine, or some other really cheap wood, but then my father informed me they don't sell Pine as thick as it would need to be... so could i glue a few pieces together? also, can anyone give me the dimensions of a sutable piece of wood for making a neck (bolt-on wizard or fender style) thanks....
  2. ummmm, why not buy 'em? for the time you save (in my opinion) the costs are almost nothing...
  3. no! it's actually quite cool, i always thought luon was a synthetic wood, never expected to see flaming in it, and i've seen hundreds of sheets of this crap!
  4. yeah, but you won't be able to play guitar if you get carpal tunnel... hahahahahahahahaha
  5. I just got a new bathroom door, and it's made of luon, and it's got a flaming of grain at the top. It's actually a very nice looking flame. It so cool....
  6. guitar, i mean i could just whack it for the rest of my life...
  7. Glyn's where'd ya get the idea, glyn cornelious? Y'know his mirrorcastor? I just deleted the link too... her'es the one steve vai owns.. Vai's yeah, i was gonna build one of those.... then i decided not too... Good luck, it'll look great. And use white grout, it will look better (see glyn's)
  8. THAT FLAMED MAPLE IS DROP-DEAD GORGEOUS!!! If we ever meet in person, hyunsu, don't let me get near that guitar, i will rub my body against it in a sexual way, as me and my friends call it "hendrix humping"... great job!!!!!!!!!!1
  9. you guys... most of that "coolness" is from the low-quality pics... It's just regular quilted maple...
  10. I'll take that bandsaw, and that maple veneer Email me at renablistic@aol.com and tell me what you want for shipping, i'll pay it all 100%, and i'll throw ina bit extra, too. I fell bad just taking it from you, i have to give ya a little more than just shipping...Also, i need to know what form of payment you want me to send the money as. Money order would be the easiest for me. and probably you too... unless you have paypal... then i have to sign up for paypal... (blah!). But yeah if you are serious I'll take the bandsaw/veneer no prob.
  11. snork, that is the first good idea i've ever heard you say. (and probably the only good idea you've ever had )
  12. wouldn't the easy way be to just put some glue in the slot, and pound the fret back in?
  13. keep up the excellent work. You're not very old, right? Even if all your guitars in the future we're this good and you didn't improve (which everyone does after their first, just like sex) you would still make an easy living at it.
  14. clavin, man. You are my new god. guess that makes me a pagan. Those inlays are so nice, i could rant for hours. But, where do you get these shells? Stew mac only sells like 3 varieties... ok for making dots and such, but nothing ultra cool. Do you have a vendor for all the materials, or do you have to go to different places for each type? And once again, I must say, the next fretboard you are going to inlay like these ones, definately, please make a tutorial. I'm learning how to cut and inlay right now and there aren't enough tut.s on inlaying. and once again, very nice.
  15. the necks suck. But if your up to modding them ever once in a while, it's ok. They have just as much potential as any fender, you could do ANYTHING to them, and the base price is like 200 bucks!
  16. Man, what's with the youngster here and their lack of tact. I just tell the truth, whether it's mean or not...
  17. yes, you must. Right now I'm learning how to cut pearl/inlay/engrave. I mean you HAVE to (not really) write a tutorial on this, especially the engraving/water effect type stuff. I have an idea for a dna strand going all the way up the neck... now i want it splashing out of water and at the first fret it becomes some sort of "beast" the dna of a beast...
  18. OMFG!!!! that is the BEST INALY EVER!!! I NEVER thought some pearl and abalone could give me such a hardy (if ya know what i mean). I mean it isn't the chick (she's a bit manly) it's just the sheer level of quality on that sucka... FABULOUS!!! THAT SWORD IS F****** AWESOME!!!!!!
  19. ok, i dreamed this up last night, and haven't tried this but it sounds like it'll work. Whatcha need: a printer clear packing tape normal paper whatcha do: 1) make a logo 2) print logo on sheet of paper 3) place some tape on top of that logo 4) place a second pice on top of that 5) reload same piece of paper exactly the same way as before in printer 6) print logo the idea is to put the logo on a piece of tape, that way you just trim as close to the letters as possible, then place on your headstock and clear over. the first piece of tape is so that when you take the piece of tape printed on off the sheet of paper you don't get little paper fuzzies. i don't have any packing tape, so i can't try it right now, someone care to try this out and tell me if it works? thanks!
  20. we have a vote for cnc, Mr. Paul Reed Smith, when did you join the site?!?!
