  1. yeah, i was looking through the stew mac catalog while on the crapper today (and ended up ordering over 100 bucks in parts) and was looking at that and i really want to get one.... for a tele project... but i'd need to get something to mount the PUP...
  2. http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Bridges,_tailp...er_Bridges.html exactly what you need but it does cost 60 bucks.
  3. that gives me a great idea for my custom tele!!
  4. uhhh they sell all of it at home depot... well anyways, igot: a dremel, a flex shaft, and a few bits (bought them a few days before x mas for myself hehe) $515 USD socks boxers comforter pillowcases sheets a new cd player (finally! been using cassettes only for about [aboot if canadian] a month and a half now!!) and that's it.
  5. that pickgaurd reminds me of my custon pickguard for my duct tape p bass. (pics in a little while)
  6. ummmmmm very crackly..... just kidding. If i were to say "very nice!" I would be lying, because it's too soon to tell, but good luck on doing the finish!
  7. shouldn't it only be natural to use a trans red on that beauty? And a lot of clear coat, and a super nice shine? OR you could do a flame graphic (like fire) using trans colors, to show off that beautiful top.
  8. uhhh yeah.... I have 5 of them. 20 bucks a piece... just go Here. J/k good luck getting one though...
  9. yes i love my hands. i love sanding by hand, and blowing away the dust, and just watching the old finish fade away slowly...
  10. about 30 bucks, if the inlay isn't very elaborate, there might even be enough for a neck and a half - www.stewmac.com
  11. it's pretty hard to go too deep, and now that i've been using it awile and been practicing like crazy, i find myself thinking i went too deep, but it isn't deep enough. and yes, i did try inlaying with an exacto knife (and a 5 in 1 and a small chisel), and it was hard as hell. i give props (what a dumb word, right?) to anyone who does inlaying via chisels and exactos on a regualer basis.
  12. ok, as they said in the other thread, converting a regular nylon string to a steel string or double neck is not gonna work well, if at all. I would say for the price of buying a not so great (crappy) 50 dollar guitar, and customizing it enough to be good, you should just completely build one your self...
  13. Also: post your top 3 here. Me: i prefer 1) my hands 2) my dremel 3) Aerosol Cans (sooo easy to use) oh, and if you picked CNC, i have one thing to say: come on!!!! Aren't YOU supposed to build the guitar, not some damn MACHINE?!?!?!?! (excuse my french)
  14. ok. I'll be visiting the dentist in about 4 months. After christmas I'm ording a bunch of pearloid inlays, bits, and a pearl saw. Right now I'm using the engraving bit i got with the dremel, and although it's a bit big (and the end is ball-ended), and I've inlayed a few stars (which are hard with the big bit) I've been using the highest setting on my dremel. And i still haven't found out how to connnect the flex shaft to the dremel... Yep, I'm a natural at inlaying. just gotta keep on practicing. LGM, better watch out theres (about to be) a new "super-inlayer" in town. **blows smoking dremel**
  15. Brian has a Bartolini 7 string 'bucker on his site for a whopping 230, bartollini's are suposed to be bluesy/jazzy, right? and he sells the whole dimarzio line of sevens sevens
  16. hahaha, the king of viruses, eh? I love the 'ol link to your hard drive gag.
  17. uhhhhhh. i'm an inlaying noob. ANY and ALL info and pointers (and direction on which bits to use) on how to use the dremel will be appreciated. Here are some specific questions: 1) WHICH BITS DO I USE?!?! 2) what speed is best for routing the inlay "hole"? (RPM) 3) Would the flex shaft be easier to use? 4) Where do i buy diazepam to stop this damn shaking?!?! 5) What else should i know? (pointers and such)
  18. at Home Depot (until Tomorrow) theres a 20% off sale on all power tools!! I just bought my first Dremel Kit, a Multipro Multispeed Dremel, a flex shaft, and a TON of bits!! It was all only 63 bucks (and a few cents, but I also didn't pay tax cause my dad used his credit card for it cause i didn't have cash on me, and he was buying work materials)!!! it's normally $79 i think, or is $75? But MAN!!! IT IS NICE!! (I sharpened my rambo knife )
  19. well since it's a basswood body (yea i'm gonna get one of those tele kits too, but geetting a custom neck from litchfield, and doing my own custom inlay, and yadda yadda yadda) I'd say go with a solid aerosol spray from reranch. Then on top of that, if you're gonna polish (see LGM's polishing tutorial) use a wipe on polyurethane, and if you have a bad feeling you woul deat through the finish, using an aerosol clear coat, and no polishing looks just fine. But i do recommend using some sort of autobody wax to do a final shile on it. i find That Turtle wax Express Shine works very well and is very cheap and easy. You spray it on like Windex (exactly the same way) then buff it off. That's what i did on my last project. (pics on the way!!) and it looks great. oh, and for a really good cleaner, if you go to any Eyemasters or Sears Vision or optomotrist place like that (not a small office) they sell stuff that you use to clean your glasses, and it works well to bring a shine to a finish, or to get rid of fingerprints and such.
  20. you could have just edited it. I suggest you edit and remove everything from one of those posts, and quote all of the posts to in the edited one over to the other one. It'll be less confusing...
