  1. How could they screw that up so badly?! Ugh. Well hopefully it gets corrected and the finish does the guitar justice. well what happened was we never went over the paint in specifics outside of "we'll talk about it later" and the CGI rendering I showed them they saw it and thought it was silverburst; not in the sense of duct-tape colored silverburst now, but classic gibson silverburst (white/cream to silver then black) the back though....my fault, i never went over that with them (assumed we were gonna go over paint when the time came, didnt think they would just straight to it) only stepping stone now is price they want to do the strip and re-finish.....ugh You should not have to pay for their screw up. If you didn't ask them to do that, then they should, out of professional courtesy properly strip and refinish it for you with out charging you more.

  3. I really like this design, with all its features. I say you save it for your second or third build. Learn on your first guitar so that one will be better, since with all that complex equipment and hardware, you might run into some problems.
  4. Why would you burn them? If they are yours and you like them no matter what, saying something like that is just adding fuel to the (almost literal) fire. If someone finds their creation flawed and dislikes it, they can do with it as they please. We have no right to impose ourselves upon others. This constant war that has spread throughout most of the PG forum is making me sick. People have the freedom to do what they want with their work, some might want to chop it up and reuse it, others might strip all the parts off and send the body to some kid who needs the practice. BUT there are no set guidelines for this and what someone SHOULD do and what they WANT to do are two totally different things. No one has to give their flawed creation to some upstart builder, or reuse it for their next one or something. If they do, great, if they want to destroy/ burn it, so what? I think I can understand the release and comfort given when you destroy a project that has failed to meet what you wanted to get out of it. Sure, a new builder seeing the results of a WOD/ guitar burning might be confused or distraught by it. Maybe some sort of disclaimer is in order for a thread of WOD picture, or maybe they shouldn't be allowed, but I think that should be up to the builder. Can we please stop this childish argument and return to building? No more hostility, let's go with . Personally if I had just joined this board, and saw the angry and despicable fighting going on between PG members and I saw the WOD pics, which do you think would make me more prone to leave PG or dislike the forum in general? I think the fighting. Thanks guys.
  5. Makes enough sense to me, thanks WezV! Hah, that rhymed. When I ask for help and someone gives me an answer, I always try it. If it doesn't work, I ask again and go on to something else. But that's just me.
  6. Dude make a lapsteel. That would be awesome.
  7. Wow after reading all this, I am going to be really careful to not make too many rookie mistakes, I might get virtually assaulted for it! Though he did blatantly ignore advice he asked for in the first place... Oh well. I'm not judging anyone here. Try not to remove your hand, DrummerDude.
  8. Exactly what i meant, I've had to do this numerous times when finishes got messed up or i needed to get paint off and protect the binding. As long as they are careful, there will be no harm to the guitar.
  9. You can strip it without damaging the binding, it just takes a lot more work.
  10. I think I'm about to do the same thing. Might be breakfast bothering me though. Anyway.. You should go get your guitar and strip the paint off it then redo it clear. I don't know why you would want to paint such a pretty guitar anyway.
  11. You know, when I first saw this thread I was dumbfounded. But now as I think about it again, it makes sense to me. My first guitar was a failure in the fact that it can't play or function properly, yet a success in the area that I have learned from the failure. One day, I will burn it. I want to try and rescue it first.
  12. That's black!? It looks blueish to me.. I like that one though, and the trans-red. Actually i like all of them, even the trans-pink.
  13. Looks cool but where is the neck and the rest of the parts?
  14. I usually dislike anything PRS or PRS-like yet.. this forum has made me appreciate how no matter the design or my feelings about it, they can still make an excellent guitar. Eddie, your craftsmanship is superb, those birds are over-the-top. The neck is to die for, and that body has such gorgeous coloration to it. MAN! You sir, make some intense guitars. Maybe I am loosing my distaste for PRS. Either way, you have one fantastic looking instrument here!
  15. Alright, thank you very much. There is no rush for this but if you do stumble upon something please let me know. Thanks again!
  16. Jon, Like always, your work blows my mind. Absolutely amazing, this build looks fantastic. There is one thing that seems to bother me though- when I looked at the back of the body in that picture it seemed strange to me. Because of how the neck will sit on it, the strips of wood in the center dont look centered, and they throw my eyes off. But I think once you attach the neck, it won't jump out at me. Anyways, excellent work!!
  17. I say you leave it how it looks now and when it gets really trashed from traveling, you refinish it. It looks nice now, might as well leave it that way till its beat to hell. Just what I'd do.
  18. Hey Jon, I had PM'd you a few weeks back about the Redwood. Any news on that? Thanks.
  19. So... do you have a growing collection of guitars, or do you sell them? I totally agree with you... the only thing I want to do is build guitars! i usually sell them. thats the only way i can afford it. but my builds are usually pretty cheap. i have 2 completed ones right now, only because my v diddnt sell. Really? Hopefully you sell them for enough more than they cost to build so its reasonable for you!
  20. I like having the extra possibilities with a neck pickup than just a bridge one.
  21. Matt you have totally killed me again with your talents. This guitar is going to be freaking amazing, I know it. The design is cool, I really want a six string version of that now! Excellent man, I can't WAIT to see this finished!!
  22. hey, thanks man! i know a lot of people dont like diamond plate, but it is one of my favorites. and wich next project? check out my les paul with floyd thread, you might have already, i dont remember. thanks! Yeah, I realized that right after I posted. That LP is looking good. If i ever finish the guitar I'm doing now I'm making an LP next.
  23. Oh no that's terrible. It was such a nightmare going through that with my grandmother, especially the effects of the chemo. Spend time with her, give her lots of hugs and cherish the time you have left with her. I know how it feels to experience that and even though it was a couple years ago now I still miss her dearly. My heart goes out to you and yours.
  24. I really don't like that guy. His bulls*** makes me sick.
  25. Looks great, you make some very nice guitars! I am envious of your talent! Honestly, I don't like diamond plate on guitars at all, but you managed to really pull it off well. Excellent, excellent work, looking forward to your next project.
