  2. feylya, by connecting the bridge to ground you achieve nothing, its when you attach yourself to the ground. your body acts as a massive antenna, picking up all the noise of the day! when you earth the bridge, you are virtually always touching the therings or bridge, this connects you to ground, shorts all the inteference you would transmit into the pickups to the ground, therefore reducing noice. im sure if this doesnt make enough sense LK or ansil will help.

raining blood dude!! or seasons in the abyss or blood red - actually the whole seasons CD is pretty neat!
  4. yeah, my mate did that with quite a large cap, not that big, but big enough. it blew up in his face, and bits flew about. he hasnt lived it down since!
  5. hey!!! same pickups as me! they are AWESOME! (im gonna use these instead of EMG's, cos i think they are wild better!!) anyhow i had the same prob. then i grounded the bridge and shielded everything well, they are fantastically quiet now! i highly reccommend shielding all the cavaties, and the back plate, earth everything and they will rock! cya later! Mike
  6. i didnt know you started soo soon LGM, your work is soo pro! i must say i have just completed my first guitar which i will call totally my own work. my 31 fret i worked with dad on to build skill. this one is mine i think its better, i just gigged with it, its awesome. its a RR V, and it will be unvailed soon. i have my eyes set on becoming a professional luithier, making a name for myself. glad your happy, hope it all pays off! Mike
  7. bigD you almost got my vote! if i could put a double vote in bigd would get the other, but the Traveller is just that lil bit more special (even tho the top makes me feel weird - dont ask!) its very neat, excellent detain. well done sir!
  8. this is my plan, excuse the bad ms paint job! DANG, fullserve aint workin ill try get another pic host. there, good ole photobucket. the top angle cut should be the other way round perhaps... whatever you like.
  9. well, tinkered with soo many, helped build a kit guitar a few years ago, then did alot more with the 31 fret guitar. recently just finished my RR V which i just gigged with at an amateur talent show. there were 800+ ppl there, easily! i will ul a vid asap. plans to build a 7 string RG for a client, just awaiting parts from UJ. also building an explorer for another client, awaiting payment. gotta build a new neck, and fix a totally trashed guitar for a client - awaiting payment. build a 6 string of sorts for general sales, try get some cash! thats it basically, HAHA bye bye college loan Mike
  10. before i saw wes' post about gilmour, i had chosen him. he has amazing expression and melody. definately a hero.
  11. yeah, im all for leaving wood for a month before using for the above reasons
  12. i had a problem gettin dimarzios here, cant find em anywhere, but i ended up getting them from the main dealer, dimarzio uk. they were expensive pups, 80ea i think, but they were 7 string ones. and i didnt pay for them, my client did
  13. have you tried www.axesrus.com ? this is a british site, got my motherbuckers there, pair for 40 i think, they are the best sounding pickup i have ever used, including my EMG-89.
  14. i think they are too thin at the 1 string tuner
  15. peet - zo who really cares, i can live with all the pronunciations!
  16. id do what you want most. imo i think it would be a fun chalenge to design a cool 3x3 that would suit a jem. thats what id do
  17. hey, i did this to an LP. i managed to get a good joint, but the soldering iron didnt do it. i ground a flat on it, then got the solder handy. put the gas stove on, and heated the stuf on it for quite a while, then started adding solder, EVENTUALLY! i got it to solder, rembering that when you want it to solder, take it out of the flames!
  18. rick, my guitar is almost finished i will do a thorough write up on it, including the dying process. i think it is looking great. i had to alter it a bit.. neck was a bit too wide at a part, but the beltsander fixed that, better being too wide than too small! anyhow, ill post pics in a few days. i hope fullservesite is working for me again. hitone, good luck man!
  19. id say i have large hands, and large stretch. medium sized thickness fingers id say. can play 12th to 24th stretch reasonably comfortable. 12th to 25th sounding ok still, and 12th to 27th is hard, but no buzzing. i must admit, the octave gaps would be the most used! Mike
  20. i second the opinion that if you have played dimarzios and like them, stick to them! i am building a 7 string for a client, he specifically asked for dimarzio, good player. tone zone 7 and PAF 7 im going to use. im interested to see how they play, i may be converted to them! Mike
  21. ditto, heard he pulled through
  22. just before i sleep i shall inject an idea of an ash thread for all people who are stuck/have info about ash. ill organise that pm i sent you rick, and hopefully expound upon parts which i left a little blank. i will probably open the thread tomorrow, if you want to open it, go right on ahead! i am dying of sleep deprevation so i bid thee farewell! Mike ps. candycoat is the easy way out, hehe! this will be about dying. dont give up!
  23. it would seem that i am quite the fool! i was meaning 8 separate bass strings, and not octave strings... aw well, lol! i may build one... it is tempting, but i think the neck would be absolutely monsterous!
