    Jeff Beck

i have been stuck on his blow by blow album - im really into funk atm. that and shredding, lol!! mike
  2. im sure you have to post a couple of clips of it if you get it!! Mike
  3. ok, matt - i mailed you a link of 1 clip - here it is for the benefit of others, with a few more clips to let ya hear! http://www.allbarkleys.plus.com/7%20string.mp3 recorded with no post effects - all vamp. that was the 7 string i built and sold on the recording. no bass guitar. 10 - 56 or 60?? http://www.allbarkleys.plus.com/A.mp3 recorded with 11-70's on my LP kit. alnico pups with treble booster. vamp again - with bass guitar. http://www.allbarkleys.plus.com/becker.mp3 a composition i wrote for A level music - a pastiche of Jason becker. recorded with 8-38's on my RR V which i built - motherbuckers. vamp again!! some sloppy playing but you get the general idea. hopefully that riff in A will tickly your fancy matt! it aint death metal granted, but anyway! Mike
  4. id say it is derived form the Vamp pro - the rack processor. i have this, and it simply kicks lots of ass! ill send you clips of it if you like, matt! id grab it for sure! mike
  5. how does fretless electric work out?? how does it feel, i am very interested atm!!
  6. i think you are thinking of catch 33, its AMAZING! I was the 2004 release i think. i have heard some of catch 33, they are a talented bunch! PS I is 21 minutes long! Mike
  7. well, i would respect people on the less mainstream side of things, not on the commercial side where albums and careers are written by a pencil pusher. i think the spice girls should be forced to listen to meshuggah's I for a day, that would kill them! you do have one valid point.... breasts. excuse the editing required in last post, lol! forgot which forum i was on. Mike
  8. not to bash, but thats your take on music - showing off not as important as melody or whatever, but i believe everyone experiences melody differently, i would much prefer to listen to a rusty cooley song than say... gary moore - okay, different styles, but the speed comparison is valid i think! i think people must hear the melodies and speeds differently, i for one think cooley is incredible, some killer melodic ideas, but im well into shred! i agree vai can make things speak, but he is too weird at times - i find the whole whammy bar think is great for a song or 2, but he really uses it to death! you could argue that cooley overuses the sweeping, but you are allowed to, its your opinion, there is no point trying to persuade someone how good or how someone sucks, if they believe he is good, let them think so - no point trying to make them think like you, imigine how <edited>unpleasant the world would be if everyone thought like you! any feeble attempts at non-conforming would be being done! so different opinions are welcome! remember - "opinions are like an <edited>rude orifice on an elbow" no boundaries is a fav of mine - i REALLY wanna get a nitro CD!! Mike
  9. just my take: you can critisize his technique and musicality, and call him overrated (musically) but i would not condone calling him an idiot, or anyone who can get soo much fame and cash and fans! there are 10001 fast guitarists, but are there that many as famous as him? NOPE! i normally dont argue about guitarists im not partial to - but he HAS done something right to get where he is now, and shredding aint it! if you had to shred to get famous and only shred he wouldnt be on the list! but hard work got him there, thats why i hate american idol, and all those things, they get HANDED!!! a contract, where me (not being arrogant, but my band kicks the ass of ANYONE in american idol and them some!) will have to slog it out for ages before anything happens, but i plan to get there by being determined, writing killer music, and hard work. so he isnt the best shredder, he is okay - but he has got somewhere, which must be respected!
  10. but as far as quietness goes - an electronic kit is better than those horrible practise pads you can buy to place over the batter heads - now thats no bounce! they stink as well! ill be buying a nice yammie this summer, they are compact, quiet and have decent sounds, thats all i need, something quiet to play along to cowboys from hell or whatever on!
  11. thankyou! there was a delay - he aint using it to double the notes, but like wha - you can use it to hide sleight mistakes and fake a greater sustain.
  12. i didnt watch all the clips, thats probably it.
  13. his effect is bad - really delay rich. not adding to the speed, but perhaps covering up mistakes or unwanted noises.
  14. i think the yammies are decent kit, played on one quite a bit for a while, plan to get one real soon!
  15. ive actually only had bad experiances with laney guitar amps, though the bass amps are nice.
  16. probably a cold vindaloo or kebab hmmmmmmmm.... and whatever alcohol is to hand, hmm, a strongbow wouldnt go amiss
  17. i put a 70 on my gibbo kit, tuned down to A, and its fine. it was a tight fit, but no drilling. great tone. i may just make a 7 string, but the 8 is very tempting still.

    I Need Some

john petrucci is good as well i reckon.
  19. yeah, i had a similar experience. was in school, noticed a note about some bursary thing, so i applied. no-one but me and ryan applied cos they are all too lazy and ignorant. anyhow, had to go to a fancy golf club/restaurant for the interview and awards. i did my interview saying id use the money on a new trumpet (i dont own my own) they were announcing, and said out of the 9 or whatever entrants it was soo close they had a 1st 2nd and 3rd. i had no hopes, so it was a great suprise when i came 2nd, and won £300 - $565 USD. i was well chuffed! grinning the whole night. the next day... more luck a month or so ago i had put my name on a charity sheet, paying about $2 to guess the soap star whose face was blanked out. i HATE soaps, and know NOTHING about them. i guessed anyways, its charity. and the day after winning $565 i got told i won a further $40 streak of good luck ill say i now own a beautiful Bach Stradivarious trumpet, which set me back $2000 which is an excellent offer here - normally they sell for close to $4000. happy camper... now ive got the cold and a throat infection and i cant play it but ill live also rick just played the 7 string RG i built him. (he wanted to play it before i finished it) and he is extremely impressed. he is a picky guy when guitars are concerned, so thats a good review check his band at http://www.symbiotick.net / prog rock. couple of free tracks. just rough atm. cyas Mike PS well done on the guitar acquistiion, it must feel great!
  20. thanks! yes, its very stable, and works very well in my experience. the grain doesnt reverse too much, like on other mahoganys
  21. this is my 4th guitar, 3rd if you exclude kit. i had let rick play my 31 fret guitar, and he just decided that he wanted me to build him one, and not to buy an ibanez. i sold my ibanez after building the 31 fret guitar, im not being up my ass, but it was much better. rick is coming to play it on wednesday, so far he has been very pleased with it. glad you like the mp3, i was debating whether or not to post that, each time i hear it, i find more i dislike about it, but im very critical. sorry about the double posts, i dont know whats going on!! Mike
  22. its up to rick what happens, personally i prefer it like it is. dimarzio tone zone 7 and paf 7 25.5 scale i drew the plans based on a 1550 pickups sound great!
