  1. Whoa, if that were me I would totally not ship that one off. GOTM fo' sure
  2. i think it's pretty cool and an excellent spinoff of a violin, i didn't even see those f-holes until someone said something about it. Is it semi-hollow or are they just painted on somehow?
  3. whoa man, that is an amazing piece of work. It looks so strange but i really like it a lot. What kind of epiphone is that anyway? Dot standard?
  4. I REALLY like the paint job and the guitar as a whole is very nice. This is wayyyy better than my first ever could have been. How does it play? How did you go about doing the scalloping? How did you paint it (paint types, # of coats etc...)
  5. I saw this on gotm and i have to say that is one impressive guitar! as well as a back yard. I saw you were using some guitarheads pickups. How do you like them? cause i've been looking into them but i didn't know if they were any good seeing as nobody i know has them
  6. i'm looking to buy a template bit for my router and I don't know what would be the best cutting length and diameter and overall length to get precise and detailed route through a template. The site that i'm looking at has many available. http://www.routerbits.com/cgi-routerbits/s...0545319_6514+47 I don't know if any of you have purchased from this site but which one would be a good one to get?
  7. i'm using sapele for my current build too and it's soo nice to work with, looks amazing and is very solid. I think i prefer it over mahogany.
  8. I've been looking through the kits from Grizzly in their catalog for some time now and i've been a little skeptical on the quality of the finished instrument. I'm looking for some feedback from anyone who has built any of the kits. Acoustics, electrics, mando etc... How does it sound? What materials is it made from? Action and playability? thx
  9. I've been looking at their kits but i've been skeptical about buying one cause they don't provide much info about them and the materials. How was the bass? electronic? what kinds of wood? Was the nylon actually good when you finished it???
  10. I'm sorry but what is CA? I don't remember seeing the abbreviation before.
  11. I'm about to fret my second and i am debating whether or not to glue the frets in like my first. I thought it would be a good idea but i honestly don't know if it did anything special. How many of you glue your frets?
  12. how'd you get the accents on the body? Did you wipe some dust into the ash or was it more complicated?
  13. hey that looks like my first, except the body isn't split in two pieces... My first was a pine les paul, terrible stuff to work with... way too soft. But i have to say it looks really nice.
  14. I don't care what anyone else says... that headstock looks sick and so far the guitar is lookin good
  15. that's AWESOME! I wouldn't have the patience or skill to do something like that, haha. What kind of Krylon and sealer did you use?
  16. you are going to need to mask off the areas you don't want to color with some tape. It's going to take a lot of patience. Also that first guitar, as well as the mock-up, look amazing!
  17. Everyone did an awesome job yet again this month. The one I liked the best was bigdguitar's. It's simple but it just flows. I love double cuts lps a lot, that's why i started making one a year ago but never got back to finishing it. This was back when it seemed like the PRS's where the popular thing to build. Now I see tons of double cut lps now. Wierd huh? Anyways, this one stands out. Great job.
  18. i disconnected the pot and sprayed some electrical cleaner in it today. I reconnected it and then hooked it up and now it works perfectly. thx
  19. I'll make this simple. 1. Tommy Emmanuel: Seen him twice so far and he can play anything he wants to. He just lays it out on stage in front of everyone. This summer he'll have been playing guitar for 50 years!!! He fast, he's got style, he's got phrasing, he can improv. and he can write. 2. Emppu Vuorinen: From the scandinavian band Nightwish. He can shred with the best of em' but he knows when to stop. Everything he plays just goes with whatever song he plays. Everything he plays just makes sense and leaves me playing it over and over again. Those of you who don't know him should check out this link: http://youtube.com/watch?v=gBCEXM9U8Z4 3. John Petrucci: He's amazing and he's so melodic and skillful. He can play everything fluently and he's got the speed, phrasing and writing skills.
  20. A friend of mine's Crybaby Classic is kind of broken and he told me if I can fix it i can have it, so i thought i would take a crack at it. The problem: Every time you move the movable pedal part (the part you step on (i'm bad with words)) of the effect is moved it makes a sort of crackling sound like a plastic bag moving around. It doesn't make this sound if you move it very very slowly. I took off the back to take a look inside to make sure everything was connected, which it was. I think as well as my father who is an electrician think the problem lies with the potentiometer that the pedel twists back and forth to make the "wah wah" sound. It is very esialy removable unlike everything else inside, which leads me to think that they "die out" eventually and need to be replaced. Do you think that this is the problem? If this does happen to be the case where could i get another pot like the one in the pedel. I'm not good with words so just ask if you need me to explain something i wrote. thanks
  21. that bottom pic looks SOOOO COOOL!!! That has to be the best shape i've ever seen!!! And the electric amazing too!
  22. So sweet! I'm currently building a padauk topped sapelle back cherry neck through guitar and i hope the padauk will turn out at least half as good as that!! What kind of finish did you use. That's GOTM material right there.
  23. I'm about to string up my first FINALLY. I just realized i don't know if the truss rod should be adjusted while all the strings are on and tuned up or not. I've heard arguments from both sides on more than one occasion. Which was do you guys think is the right way to go?
