  1. thanks john for the reply. well, basically, i got a FR trem without the locking nut. the article didn't say anything about guitars that doesn't have a locking nut to tune the FR trem smoothly. so, i hope anyone can guide me to a site that tells me how to set up the FR trem in tune eventhough i don't have a locking nut. thanks about the machine heads. i've got some spares that is still new which i got for free from a friend. what i mean by the bridge is, the whole wood piece with the saddles. can i use them on electric guitars as well? i'm trying to find alternatives for my guitar and try to look cool at the same time. thanks.
  2. oh, another thing, can anyone help me with pics on where to put the strap buttons on warlock guitar?
  3. ok, i have some questions that i hope anyone can help me. 1- can the bridge and machine heads for accoustic guitars, used in electric guitar? if yes, why? and if no, why? 2- i got a patented floyd rose tremolo and from what i can see, it has been set to all the same height, the same length and everything. i know floyd's is a bit hard to set it in tune, so i hope anyone could help me with it. i have read some article on the floyds and how to tune them but it didn't talk much about guitars that doesn't have locking nut. help? 3- how to, exactly, to make the binding around the body?
  4. hai.. i'm not used to this section so, practically, i'm new here. i got a question, my guitar had three pickups, s s h and none of these, make any sound when plugged in. the guitar is pretty old but i kept the pickup very well. i'll always check it just fior sure but still, it's silence, scared me. what's wrong actually? can anyone help?
  5. i agree with snork. i learn for two years, learning on my own, by ears and books that i bought, learning tabs on the net and stuff. but then, on my third year of learning, a friend came by and open me up with stuff that i've never know... which in particular, shred music. he teach me the scales, mode, fingering exercise.... stuffs.... even if i still can't play like a shredder, i can play an extra faster than what i can, two years back. get a teacher or someone that can guide you better. auido is good. text is good. with visual... you're up to advancement in no time...
  6. look around & i sure that you would fine some fine wood for your project.... don't worry man, time is on our side in building our sweetheart... you know what i'm saying? if you can't find fine wood for the first time, you can try it for your next project. believe me.... i now have stumbled some wood that i got from construction site, for free as they have a lot and it turns out, it's a somekind of mahogany or something, but definitely hardwood.... efforts... my man... you'll get that tone wood of yours if you put an extra effort for it...
  7. nice wood hyunsu.... by the way... do you think its possible for me to buy woods like that through you? i think it would not be a big problem since we are in asia right? or am i wrong bout this?
  8. hyunsu... you are working 17 hours a day and still you are making sweet looking guitars.... that's is the kind of inspiration i'm looking for.... hyunsu... be my mentor please..?
  9. if it is strong enough, i mean for the first project, can i really used plywood? maybe sandwiched it in between solid wood that i have that doesn't have the required thickness?
  10. i'm in malaysia and i know the scenerey here in malaysia. not a lot of shop that sells wood that we, as a guitar builder enthusiath, required. however, i agree with hyunsu. try to look around man, and you might found the right wood for you. even construction wood is graded man.... not all kind of wood can be made into the foundation of a building... right?
  11. how much is for the cocobolo and the mascar ? i lived in malaysia and i'm interested at that mascar & cocobolo of yours...
  12. i just want to ask, can i changed my bridge, a standard strat with tremolo bridge, with floyd rose? if i don't recessed the groove, do i have to angled the neck?
  13. COOL MAN ! i can't wait for mine to finish right now... arghhh... the holidays is nearer everyday...
  14. for me its physic and chemistry..... i like math as it is important to guitar building... but yes, math is one of the subject where i draw and sketch my drawings...
  15. i find it better with lots of papers and pencils... and cardboard for templates.... anything as long as i can hold it and view it with my hand and eyes looking at it...
  16. i really don't know what is my preferred radius, as long as i am comfortable playing it, its enough for me... don't you think?
  17. unfortunately, i can't sell it as my agreement with my uncle who gave the guitar. i don't have any camera or digital camera at the moment. besides, i don't have the heart to take its miserable pics.
  18. for IbanezIceman: yeah, i just got one from my uncle who was once in a rock band but the guitar is so badly treated up to a point where no repairman have the gut to repair it. as i'm just a beginner, i don't really brave enough to repair it. man, i'd even don't have the heart to post the pics. one word. bad. even the pickups is burnt and beyond repair. he used to act like hendrix you know... and then complain on the pickups won't work. the only useable parts on the guitar is the truss rod cover. sad isn't it? crack all over and everywhere and all the way. but i like the design and yet i'm trying to combine it with other designs. just to know what it might come up with. so, anyone else?
  19. yeah, i would like to have some of the construction tips regardless on what and with what.... southpa... thanks man... the site really helps a lot but i just need some clarification on something. the springs, does it attach to something or screwed on the wood or something similar in construction as brian may tremolo?
  20. Just look at the tremolo bar... so classic yet, so modern... i didn't really good at using the floyd rose tremolo but i don't really like to have the standard fender bridge with tremolo either. the tremolo bridge on the hagstrom is just nice for my guitar... if i can't find one... i'll build one... BTW, thanks for the pics weezerboy.... it is much closer than i got to see myself but still, i need a very close up on the bridge so that i could have it drawn and measured. can you help me man?
  21. yeah... me too... i got some pretty crazy ideas myself you know... i combine the iceman with parker fly and also warlock to create something... frankenstein... the lower body of warlock+upper horn of parker fly+lower horn of iceman= god knows what it is... i also got the idea of chambering it... make it hollow but yet, full of sustain... a pretty much influenced from ormsby i think... what do you think guys?
  22. Hagstrom USA this is the site weezer boy. man, i'm started to like its design. strat look a like but with a different touch of contours and man... the controls... i wonder if they've got a manual book just for the controls...
  23. hai, i've just came across to some hagstrom guitars and i like the design of the tremolo. but the problem is, i can't seem to find any close pictures or any details for me to jot down and take a good look at it. can anyone help me with this?
