randombaz
please check out the picture. my friend says im in trouble coz the neck isnt straight with the guitar. but i think raising the bridge will make the strings parallel to the fretboard at a certain height so, am i trouble? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v204/ran...az/000_1537.jpg
Maiden69
Idon't think so, I looke at it and it seems ok for a carve top. The only way to tell is to put the bridge on and string the 2 Es and check the action. It will never look as a straight line on and LP with the carved top. randombaz
also my strings have been off my neck for some time now. i havent loosened the tross rod, basically coz i couldnt get to it. hmm, does an allen key work? ok too late anyway......is the lack of tension causing it to bend or something? is this permanenent damage? im scaaaaaaaared! bluespresence
A Les Paul with a Tune-O-Matic bridge will have a neck angle like your pic shows. That is normal. If your neck has some back bow (I can't tell from the pic) that is normal with the strings off also. The string tension will pull the bow out of the neck and the truss rod will help fine tune the buzz out - if any. Raising/lowering the bridge will help get your string height (action) where you want it. I'd recommend putting your bridge and strings back on and then if you have fret buzz issues ask again. I see no problem with your pics. And, yes, you do adjust the truss rod on an LP with an allen key. I recommend you do not adjust your truss rod until you read the tutorial on the main site first. You can screw up a perfectly good guitar if you don't know what you are doing and you break the rod.
Lex Luthier
From here everything looks fine. Guitars with arched tops need the neck set back, especially if they use a tune-o-matic type bridge.
