Marko Posted September 6, 2004 Report Posted September 6, 2004 OK, those should be the pickups in my first homebuilt lp style guitar, and so far I've bought one Select EMG humbucker (SEHG model). Has anyone tried those pickups, how do they perform on distortion and on clean? I'm very curious cause I haven't connected that one yet, and I don't know if I should buy another one too if they are good. Many thanks! Marko Quote
westhemann Posted September 6, 2004 Report Posted September 6, 2004 i am sorry but i absolutely hate those pickups...they are just a washed out copy of the original emg actives Quote
Dr. Jabsco Posted September 6, 2004 Report Posted September 6, 2004 hey wes, do you know anything about the select Jazz (bass) pickups? Quote
westhemann Posted September 6, 2004 Report Posted September 6, 2004 hey wes, do you know anything about the select Jazz (bass) pickups? no...i am not an expert on bass tone by any means.... Quote
lovekraft Posted September 6, 2004 Report Posted September 6, 2004 The Select and Hz bass pickups are about on par with any other mid-priced import pickups - nothing to write home about. If you want EMGs that sound like EMGs, you'll have to step up to actives. Quote
Dr. Jabsco Posted September 7, 2004 Report Posted September 7, 2004 Christ. I thought I got a good deal with thoes things too. all I had to hear was EMG and I figured they would be great. any one want to buy a set of selects ? :-D Quote
BLS Posted September 7, 2004 Report Posted September 7, 2004 Their even worse than the HZ's IMO... and thats hard to belive. Quote
westhemann Posted September 7, 2004 Report Posted September 7, 2004 i remember when the selects first came out...they were supposed to be a cheaper equivalent...but they were rank! this was about 1987? Quote
Dr. Jabsco Posted September 10, 2004 Report Posted September 10, 2004 I paid 36 bucks for um too.. ya win some, ya loose some Quote
