sscovill Posted October 18, 2004 Report Posted October 18, 2004 Hi guys, I'm working on my first build (a Les Paul) and bought two pick ups (cheapies) to go in it that at least look like the Les Paul style pick ups. My question is...the bridge pick up that I bought apparently is designed to sit in the body in the opposite direction (screws facing up) than the real Les Paul pickups. http://www.guitarshopsupply.net/product_in...products_id=199 I'm assuming I can't simply install it upside down to match the look of the Les Pauls, so...do I have any options other than buying the real thing? Thanks, Steve Quote
Setch Posted October 18, 2004 Report Posted October 18, 2004 You can turn it around without any negative impact on the sound. What made you imagine it was 'designed' to be used in any particular configuration? Quote
sscovill Posted October 18, 2004 Author Report Posted October 18, 2004 I thought it was designed to be with the screws facing up because of where the lead wire was located. If I flip it upside down, the lead wire will be on the side not facing the pots. That's why I thought it was designed to go that way. I didn't know I could use it upside down and just run the wire around. Quote
westhemann Posted October 18, 2004 Report Posted October 18, 2004 it does not really matter.... Quote

Well, now you know Doesn't do to think too much when building guitars, you'll only confuse yourself trying to work out why a producer did something this way or that, when most times it's totally arbitary. sscovill Posted October 18, 2004 Author Report Posted October 18, 2004 HA! I've never been called an overthinker before...usually it's just the opposite. Thanks for the advice. I appreciate it. Steve Quote
