ARose Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 I want to begin the journey of building guitars with my 10 yr old son. Where do I start? I have checked out the Saga kits and they look like a good place to begin. Could someone point me in the right direction? I want something that I can stain myself and that will sound decent as I have read that the pick ups and swithes on the Saga's suck. Thanks Quote
Primal Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 I would say that the Saga kits would be a great way to begin. For the price, the hardware and electronics in the kits are really pretty good. All in all, from what I hear, for the price the Saga kits are pretty nice. Quote
crafty Posted December 16, 2004 Report Posted December 16, 2004 If you have some extra scratch to spend, check out the Carvin Bolt kits. They only come in strat-style for the guitar kits, but the quality and wood is superior enough to the Saga that it's worth every penny. You won't be fighting cheap hardware, electronics, and wood, and you'll have a much more stable instrument that stays in tune and sounds great. Quote
PerryL Posted December 17, 2004 Report Posted December 17, 2004 I'm with Crafty on this ARose. I've never actually bought the kits at Carvin but I've owned their pickups and necks and their top notch. The Body wood just looks better than the Saga kits. Quote
