blackjack
i saw a picture the other day of zakk wyld playing a les paul with the strings put through the "wrong" side of the bridge and then wrapped over the top going towards the TOM. what does this do? im guessing it relieves the tension slightly as the string is longer, but your only adding about 1.5cm's more string, so i dont see it making much of a diffrence. bowser
i read in a guitar world that the lessened tension is one reason he does it, and the other is so that there is less angle down from the bridge so that he breaks strings less often. Meegs666
im not quite getting this correctly. is the string going through the wrong end of the stopbar and wrapped around towards the bridge? or did you actually mean the bridge? silvertonessuckbutigotone
I do it also, although I'm not going to anymore because it slips around in the slot of the saddle too much and and I can't lower the bridge as far. Meegs666
oh, i see. i guess it does decrease the tension. btw, thats a damn fine lp maiden.
ThePlague
i tried it once. and hated it. i love lots of tension. and the other thing i really hated about it was that it made the downward pressure on the bridge next to nothing. unless i had lowered my tailpiece or raised my bridge i could've probably popped a string right out of its saddle if i did a big bend. Bill-Murray
You gotta lower your tailpiece all the way. Then string it reverse. It's pretty cool and gives you more sustain. BTW Jimmy Page did it before Wylde
