feylya
Does anyone know if DiMarzio's come with pots and jacks, like EMG's do? Need ot know quickly.
GuitarMaestro
The usually come with nothing. Just the pickup in a nice see-through acrylic box with a manual.
westhemann
as far as i know emgs are the only pickups that come fully equipped.i would guess the reason for this is to avoid people using the same pots that came with their passives and not getting the most out of their actives
feylya
Yeah, I was thinking that. A Mate got a shop to put in EMG's. I'm fairly sure they reused the existing pots. Would probably explain why he's changing them.
MikeB
existing pots wouldnt work - they are 500K, the EMG's are 25K IIRC. This would fDisk the gain of the pre-amp stage! if they are used in a feedback loop, i cant remember if they are or not. if they are not, the impedance would be boosted real high with normal pots, and therefore wouldnt work at line levels
feylya
Hmm, ya have to wonder. Must ask him to open the cavity and see what size the pots are physically. I know this isn't a great indictation but if they're not the small ones, they ain't the EMG ones.
westhemann
well...they actually have it written on the back of the pots. emg volume is 5 k and tone is 25k
feylya
5K for volume? You sure about that? I thought both of them were 25K. Hmm, means my pots are wrong :s
westhemann
hmm...wow...you know what?you are right.i just looked at my zakk wylde set and it is indeed 25k both pots. but i swear the singles come with a 5k volume
feylya
The singles probably do... Kinda like 250K and 500K with passive singles and humbuckers
westhemann
hmm...according to emgs website, they are always 25kohms so i guess i am just plain wrong...this time...for once...enjoy it while you can
