Hunter Posted August 9, 2005 Report Posted August 9, 2005 (edited) Looks like a 3 tone to me. Edited August 9, 2005 by Hunter Quote
keverev Posted August 9, 2005 Author Report Posted August 9, 2005 like a yellow orange red burst Quote
AlGeeEater Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 (edited) I think it's sprayed with 2 colors, but the color mixing between the 2 colors makes 3 colors. Hence the 3 tone! Edited August 10, 2005 by AlGeeEater Quote
gun Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 I think it's sprayed with 2 colors, but the color mixing between the 2 colors makes 3 colors. Also to me! Quote
keverev Posted August 10, 2005 Author Report Posted August 10, 2005 http://www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?p...3729&uid=761789 there are alot more pics from different angles and lighting to help decide. thanks for the help Quote
marksound Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 I defer to your wisdom and experience, sir. It's really hard to get a good pic of a burst anyway, but especially online what with different monitors and such. That's probably why there are so many different opinions on this one. Quote
keverev Posted August 10, 2005 Author Report Posted August 10, 2005 im starting to think it is actually a 2tone burst just with the transition fade between the yellow and medium brown colors Quote
AlGeeEater Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 OK, It's a 3 tone burst. There are 3 colors. Gibson PROBALY only sprays 2 colors. They did that on the Stew Mac Sunbursting video. The whole body was sprayed yellow, then they mixed the black edges. The mixing between the yellow and black when sprayed makes red. You can see the tint of red between the yellow and the black edges. AlGeeEater Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 The question was asked, the question was answered. If you don't know or aren't sure, you shouldn't be trying to answer or offer a conjecture. I DO know and I AM sure, and I could even explain explicitly how it was done, if needed, but that was not asked, just if it was a 2 or 3 tone, and I answered that. OK? Thread over already. ← Not exactly, this guy still is undecided whether or not it's a 2 or 3 tone Quote
AlGeeEater Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 Then you all can discuss it 'till the cows come home, I know exactly what I'm looking at. ← Fine by me. Quote
Drak Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 and stop quoting me dammit, sometimes I'm wrong! Quote
AlGeeEater Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 and stop quoting me dammit, sometimes I'm wrong! ← OK, last time What, did you just look at the pics and see it looks like a 2 tone at times? I just did... Quote
marksound Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 That's what I meant about bursts being hard to photograph and monitors and everything. Quote
AlGeeEater Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 That's what I meant about bursts being hard to photograph and monitors and everything. ← Yeah well...It's a 3 tone! Quote
Drak Posted August 10, 2005 Report Posted August 10, 2005 Yes, you are correct. I looked at the 'other' pic he linked to, and in that pic it does indeed look like a 2-tone burst, and I felt soooooooooooooooooooo ashamed. Quote

Algee, what are you talking about with the yellow and black edge???? Black and yellow will NEVER make red, ever look at a color wheel? Go through 2nd grade art? The red trans over the yellow trans will easily make the orange, but there is very little orange in this finish if you look closely, the transition is pretty obvious from red into yellow. I don't know where you are getting black over yellow making red though........... Quote

That statement was based on ONE image of the guitar. Tell me the first one he posted doesnt look 3 tone. Tell me this doesnt look like a 3 tone. Sheesh! Quote
