Maiden69
Well for those of you that don't remember or weren't here I just reshaped my Epi LP to make it lighter, and more "modern" looking... kinda like an Tremonti SE. Here is a link to the original thread http://projectguitar.ibforums.com/index.ph...wtopic=9530&hl= I have to add that after finaly stripping all the paint and the venner on the top of the Epi I found that the top is actualy a maple cap! I cleaned the pups rout and there was no clear distinction of the type of woods used and everything looked the same. But once the binding started to come off, I realized that the top was a piece of maple, with the only problem (for me) that the maple ended almost flush with the top of the binding. Here are a few pics of what the guitar looked alike when I finished carving, http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v195/Maiden69/DSC02339.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v195/Maiden69/DSC02340.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v195/Maiden69/DSC02341.jpg to give an idea of what I did. Basicly I just kept the same arch of the Gibson carve but stretched it to the end of the binding, making this more pronunceated. I painted it with a flat brown camo paint, and I think it will stay like that for a while, since I don't know if I will be painting anything else until I get a paint gun! And here is a pic of it with the paint and hardware installed.
Nitefly SA
odd color, but it looks really cool
Maiden69
Yes, this is not my cup of tea, but from the selection that I had, this was the better. I did try a flat black, but it didn't look good to my eyes. This should be re-done sometime next year, in 2 part poly or paint gun nitro. haggardguy
I think it looks sweet, nice work. I like the colour too, what are you planning on changing it to?
BlackZ
shaping is really great, but dont like the new color. old finish was much better!
Maiden69
haggardguy, I got no idea! All depends on what comes to my mind when I go to buy it! BlackZ Me neither! But that was the only color from the flat ones available here that I liked, was $1.99, painted-dried-mounted within 4hrs. And the previous finish was great, but the top paint never realy cured, and it got some ugly impression marks from the case during transportation! This one should be Re-re-visited sometime after the summer.

loudandproud
I would smack a venner and do a transparent black top. Black back and sides and put some faux flame maple binding.
Maiden69
I would smack a venner and do a transparent black top. Black back and sides and put some faux flame maple binding. ← I will love to see you "smack" a veneer on this contour! Unless you have a good vacumm press it is imposible! And transparent black ain't my stuff, I rather have a dark blue with black sides like my "Kelly".
Jivin
I really like what you've done here maiden... it looks great! I don't mind the colour so much, but I think its a bit of a moot point really because its all about what you like, and the execution seems really good The heel contour looks really great too! Marzocchi705
Damn you! Why do you have to do something so cool! Now you have made me want to do that to my LP, my epi and my work in progress one! Pfft. It looks great, i even like the colour. Great work. Maiden69
THanks Dan and Marzocchi! I will love to take all credit for the shape, but it is all inspiration from other great guitars out there! Like I posted, PRS, and a bit of Mykas, but not to an extend to make it look like his! I Thisk that I couldn't pull it out on this epi, even if I tried. Once again guys, thanks for your opinions!
