WezV
Cheers fella's. The guitar above will be a string thru, we just havnt decided where to place the ferrules yet. I think if you want burl woods its best to use a reputable supplier rather than start chopping trees down yourself, but you never know.... I am always eyeing up knarly old trees. I got this (and most of my other top wood) from gallery hardwoods, Larry really knows how to get the most out of a tree
S.Dodding
Awesome work, I really like the designs. That neck joint looks a bit special as well.
WezV
Lots of progress today. I just has my cousin who does the spraying round for the day, he brought my bass back for me to put togetherand he also brought his digital camera with him so we actually have some good pics I am very happy with the spray job he has done on the bass, we used rustins plastic costing this time because of time limitations. SHINY!! http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/WezV/IMG_0023.jpg http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/WezV/IMG_0022-1.jpg http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/WezV/IMG_0017.jpg http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/WezV/IMG_0014.jpg http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/WezV/IMG_0052.jpg http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/WezV/IMG_0050.jpg http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/WezV/IMG_0047.jpg http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/WezV/IMG_0046.jpg http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/WezV/IMG_0045.jpg http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e31/WezV/IMG_0044.jpg We also managed to get some more work done on the one he is making, some string thru holes and the body is done

WezV
Well damn - that looks great! Is that straight from the gun or did he have to cut back and buff? Thats buffed out. we only went with plastic coatinf because it was quick and i am on a time limit, but it sure does give a nice finish Ben and travis moore - the bass is for sale at music live in birmingham novemeber 3-5. Come along and give it a play (and spot the mistakes). Sometimes i amaze myself, i am very happy with this bass. I spent a lont time worrying about it but now its coming together i am very excited. Drak
That is flat-out gorgeous. How are you going to finish it? (i.e., colors, stain/sandback, etc.?)
travismoore
Awsome that grain is evil! what wood is that?
Drak
Burl maple top with wenge and maple accent lines
WezV
That is flat-out gorgeous. How are you going to finish it? (i.e., colors, stain/sandback, etc.?) Just natural i think, any dye may loose us some of the 3d effect and it looks great as it is. It will be clear coated with rustins plastic coating The wood is a very nice peice of maple burl from gallery hardwoods
Desopolis
yeah that natural is pretty awesome.. good looking piece! what color hardware?
WezV
gotta be chrome, i like to keep the rest of the guitar plain and simple and let the wood do the talking!!

WezV
Looks like the Cort G290 to me... But a much more awsome top!!! Great work !!! T So it does, its not intentional though. We started off with a normal strat outline, slimmed it down, lengthened the horns and ofset it slightly. No matter how radical i go i always get someone telling me it reminds them of something else, i dont worry about it anymore. It was bound to happen with a shape like this
WezV
Finally things are starting to get finished Heres two of the guitars after the first few coats of Rustins plastic coating: I had a bit of a play with the back of this one (the black limba one), still not sure if it works aesthetically but it should have very easy access.
