Project #2

RGman

Recommended Posts

Today i started my second guitar, this one being a RG style guitar with a few differences; such as the headstock.

The guitar is neck-thru and is made of figured Sapele and a light Sapele.

I have no idea what electronics will be put into the guitar as of yet.

I guess you can all have some pictures:

Here is some pictures showing the ribbon striped figure in the neck:

Well thats all for now, i guess you could expect an update once it is glued.

Im not actually sure, though if i do i may do a clear pickguard, though i would like to know what people think in the way of what i could do to make the project better ie. pickguards, hardware/hardware colours etc.

These happen to be the cleanest socks i have :D

Looks great so far. what is it, 27" Scale? It looks really long!

Whats the weight like?

Shes just a 25.5" scale, does look kinds long though but measures correctly.

It is actually fairly light, about the same as most of my RG's, maybe a touch heavier.

As for pickups it will depend on what i can afford, maybe EMG 81 and 85.

I should have a bit more money to get better parts, seeing as the wood was free.

Yes, i will take pictures when i next update #2's progress in the morning (#1 - fretless set neck telecaster is currently unfinished, all i am waiting for is the bridge and new tuners.

Well i have some sort of updates:

The wings joined the neck.

Tone/Volume holes drilled.

Cavity for tone/volume + switch is now drilled.

4.7 mild steel rod aquired for my truss rod.

Template for the humbuckers have started to take a form resembling a pup route.

Tremelo routing templates started.

Sanding has taken place, to what extent this is actually an update i have no clue.

Belly contur and arm rest have been carved and sanded.

Drum sanding the inner parts of the horns have been completed.

Pictures will be posted in about 11 hours.

Also, you don't have any of the hardware/electronics/paint on it :-P My Explorer is VERY light, and I'm laughing at myself for thinking so; it's going to be one heavy mother once it's assembled! B)

Looks good, though, my advice would be to look at more RG customs and get inspiration. There are some sweet bodies out there!

Oh, and of course, gimme back my headstock! :D:D
