Hi All,

Well my ordered ETS MK III Bridge has turned up, so I'll be cracking on with the bass over christmas. Also my coil winding machine has also arrived. I'll be custom winding my own pickups in the new year, so look out for them.

I love it, I'll have to get pics up of my other new hand wound machine. Phil what did you use to read the count, ive got a proximity magnet sensor that im gonna fit to my new Digi readout. I found that basic reed switches tend to stick/jump. You'll see some new designs coming in the new year.

I'm using a reed switch on it. The magnet it originally came with didn't work very well so I stuck an Alnico 5 Musicman size magnet to it and I've got no problems now.

I've heard lots of good thing about proximity switches but at 60$+ a pop, I'll wait for a little bit. Besides, even if the reed misses a few counts here and there it's not that bad since I check my final output and will remove or add wire to get my magic kOhm number for the final pickup.

Hi All,

Well I poped into work today and fitted the ETS saddle and put a set of strings on to see how she looks, and listened to abit of Miller and Adam Nitti while I worked on the bass.

Hi All,

Well the bass is nearly setup now, got the preamp all sorted today and I'll be giving her a blast thru an amp tomorrow night to make sure everthing sounds right. I do some final tweeks then strip down for Dewax shellac sealer/KTM-9 clear coat.

I need to get a little amp at work me thinks!

Cheers guys, glad to see you are into the bass. I'll get some soundclips done once its been finished. Its all stripped down for Shellac/KTM-9 now. Played the bass last night at Marty's house (Marseer fretless 6 owner) thru his Mesa Scout combo and she sounds great. Tonnes of detail with a very focused and smooth sounding range thru the pickups.

Hi All,

Well we have a few coats of KTM9 on the bass now, waiting for my new spraygun to come in and I'll finish the bass with a few more coats before I flatten and buff out the finish.
