sbskates
i dont have joiner so anytime i need something ran on a joiner i have to take it somewhere. sometimes its not joinable after i get it home and look, probably blades were off etc. and ,i dont like going back asking a redo on something that was a favor. i dont have a joiner yet but i have hand plane a router etc. table saw. i have thought of using a milled asa guide straight edge and using a flush cut pattern bit to prep the edges. i have also been told diablo and forrest blades cut so well i dont need a joiner. i am going tobuy a joiner someday but what ways can i get around it for now by hand. thanks Edited December 9, 2006 by sbskates
Jon
i have also been told diablo and forrest blades cut so well i dont need a joiner. I have a diablo blade in my tablesaw. Two words to describe it after 3 months of constant use. Effing sharp. You can use a router to joint boards, but if you suck with a router like I do, I don't suggest that method! I'm very happy with my Diablo blade, but there are some uses for a standard jointer that would make jointing much more safe.
spazzyone
get a peice of stiff angle iron and bolt it to a bench top line the exposed side with self adhesive sandpaper now rub one peice face up against it till its strait and clean take yor other peice and flip it face down and do the same thing by doing oppiset sides youll still end up with an even joint i think Setch or someone posted this topic with pics before and its a great way to join without a joiner sorry it was Southpa that posted it here is the link http://projectguitar.ibforums.com/index.ph...p;hl=angle+iron

fyb
http://woodcraft.com/family.aspx?familyid=1809 I've got one of these for my table saw and you can use it to joint edges 3" or less (i.e. the height of the blade from the table). It works pretty well on things that would usually be tough to joint, and you can use it like a regular disk sander for convex curves and what not
