MarkII
I have just fitted the bridge onto the strat i am rebuilding and have noticed something bad with the pickups. I have two Seymour Duncan SSL 2 Vintage single poles and a Seymour Duncan SH-1 59 humbucker in the bridge. The humbucker is not as wide as the other pickups, or the bridge, the poles dont fall in a straight line with everything else. I had no idea about this when i bought it. unless I can get a refund (which looks unlikely), am i completely screwed?
Primal
Humbuckers come in two widths: normal and F-spacing. The "F" stands for Fender, and is designed to align with strings that are spaced via Fender's "standard."
MarkII
I feel like an absolute idiot. You are completely right, the site i bought the pickup from has the two types of pickup, it calls the wider ones "trembuckers". I just hope theyll allow me to make an exchange for the one I need. I really had no idea they came in different spacings.
crafty
It really won't matter. I ran an Alnico II Pro bridge pickup on my Strat for years without any problems and it wasn't F-spaced. Maybe EJ can notice difference, but I sure couldn't.
