repoman Posted October 21, 2003 Report Posted October 21, 2003 hi, ive noticed many of these after market bodies of the strat are made to be 1 3/4 in thick....ive measured my start and at its thickest point its approximately 1 1/2 in. ...any reason why they are 1/4 in thicker than a real fender strat body? maybe im not measuring it correctly Quote
Jehle Posted October 21, 2003 Report Posted October 21, 2003 My guess is that Fender level sands the heck out of them and that strips off 1/8" off the front and back face of a typical 1 3/4" body blank. That's only my guess though. Quote
krazyderek Posted October 21, 2003 Report Posted October 21, 2003 every fender i've measured was 1.75", basses vary from 1.75" - 1.6" and gibson sg's 1.5", no idea on lp's but..... ya, most strats, and the likes are 1.75", what model is it you have? Quote
repoman Posted October 22, 2003 Author Report Posted October 22, 2003 actually i dont know what model strat i got but its was bought in 1977....a bud of mine also is 1.5 in thick...so we must be measuring it wrong Quote
krazyderek Posted October 22, 2003 Report Posted October 22, 2003 well unless the rules of physics are different where you live i don't see how you could be measuring it wrong... i mean it's the thickness of the body.. pretty straight forward.... it's possible fender put out some thin bodie models at one point.. but i duno..
