USAF1989 Posted July 5, 2007 Report Posted July 5, 2007 Follow the positive/negative rule, use resistors (unless they're built into the led), and use a perf board if they'll be lined up or in a pattern. Of course, you can solder point to point. does that help? Quote
Dylanwad Posted July 6, 2007 Report Posted July 6, 2007 This might help you. http://led.linear1.org/led.wiz Quote
cukaracha Posted September 26, 2007 Author Report Posted September 26, 2007 what is the value of the resistor that i'll need to connect an led directly to a 9v battery? Quote
ihocky2 Posted September 26, 2007 Report Posted September 26, 2007 Follow the link inm Dylanwad's post. It gives you everything. Quote
cukaracha Posted October 1, 2007 Author Report Posted October 1, 2007 is it safe to leave the 9v battery connected 24/7 even i'm not using it for a prolonged period of time? Quote
al heeley Posted November 5, 2007 Report Posted November 5, 2007 It is safe. the battery will eventually slowly discharge and the LED light will fade. It will not blow up. After some time the battery termainals will start to corrode and there will be a build up of corroded and oxidised metal at the cathode and anode. This will not kill you if ingested but ingestion should be avoided. If you had a small cat that licked it, it may have a poorly tummy for a day or two. Quote
billm90 Posted November 26, 2007 Report Posted November 26, 2007 I have wired up 10 leds without any resitors on a 9v, no issues. perhaps the battery life would last longer if I did. Quote
