Tristan
Figured I'd show off the guitar I've been working on for 3 years. Ive had a LOT of roadblocks along the way. This started out as my senior project in high school, and I started work on it in my junior year to get a head start. After I graduated it still wasn't done, I got frustrated with my mistakes and put it aside. Then the medical problems came on so It was really put on the back burner. The plan was to build an anihhilator like Doyle from the misfits. Figured it would be a cool shape to have since you couldn't buy it, and not many people would have one. Maple neck through with mahogany wings, rosewood fingerboard. Floyd Rose trem, Duncan Invader hum, one volume control. I started it and thought I was doing good, but 2 problems I had were no neck angle (I thought I would just recess the Floyd.) And the body was too big. So recently I decided to cut the neck off and make it a bolt on. One of these days I'll get around to having it finished. I wont give up on this guitar. http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s97/tri...245/guitar7.jpg http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s97/tri...245/guitar6.jpg http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s97/tri...245/guitar5.jpg http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s97/tri...245/guitar4.jpg http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s97/tri...245/guitar3.jpg http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s97/tristan245/a11.jpg http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s97/tristan245/a6.jpg http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s97/tristan245/a5.jpg http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s97/tristan245/a1.jpg http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s97/tristan245/a4.jpg

Tristan
as long as you like it Well, that's other thing, the shape has gotten less appealing to me over time. I've been trying to design something out of whats already there. I've got the butt end figured out with what i want but I'm still trying to figure out something to do with the horns. psw
It doesn't look good or practical to me and perhaps your tastes have radically changed. I would perhaps suggest cutting the wings off completely, perhaps leaving a lot of the mahogany still attached and then add more on, perhaps contrasting with more maple or some stripes (as if you meant to do it that way) and cutting out a new shape more in keeping with what you would now like. You may want to look more closely at the neck and bridge thing as it does look very flat and you want to be sure the thing will actually go together ok... welcome to PG... pete
Walmslap
You should give up some frets and pack 6 humbuckers in there, some active and some passive, and then have enough switches to get all possible pickup configurations. I feel a mini semi-hollow electric harp is needed on one of those horns as well. Add some hidden compartments and a fingerprint reader and you'll be set. Seriously though, don't waste time making anything that isn't exactly what you want. The only time you've got left is right now, so it doesn't matter how long you worked on it in the past. Tristan
hahaha never thought about cramming everything possible in there. Posting about this actually got me kind of excited about getting back to this. I spent the last couple hours messing with what i could do with the shape and came up with this: I like it. I think I'm going to use the warmoth neck I've got. Maybe cut off the wings and add some stringers. Maybe put a figured maple veneer on it. not sure yet, but I've got ideas flowing through my head now.

HuntinDoug
I just did an inlay job for Doyle. It was a colaboration between Moses Graphite, October Guitars, and Myself. The inlays are .130" thick, and have a glow material in the inlay. Pretty cool if youre into that kind of thing. Doyle recently contracted October guitars to produce a USA, and an import line of the "Von Frankenstien" guitar & bass. I did the CAD drawings for the imports. Actually, Doyle used to build his own guitars.

I had read about the Production guitars from October, pretty cool. Did you do any work on Argyle Goolsby's bass or just one guitar for Doyle? HuntinDoug
I did the CAD drawings for both the guitar, and the bass. Although I'm not really into the shapes, the nice thing is I get a free one of each for my time I guess I'll just hang them on the wall. I dont have any pics of the inlay yet. I wouldnt post them until after Tony posts them on the October website. Here is a teaser link: http://www.octoberguitars.com/index1.htm

I put a a badass bridge on there for the pictures but its going to have a TOM. http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s97/tristan245/bo13.jpg I've gotten more done on it since the pics have been taken, I'll have to snap some more soon. Tristan
After the last post I tried inlaying a nice piece of Amboyna burl into the guitar, worked great for a couple days then the burl shrunk and there were some pretty hideous gaps, so i decided to flip the body over and make it sort of a v shape. So that turned into this: http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s97/tristan245/new-1.jpg And I didn't like that so much, and then it turned into this: Which I still don't like too much, so after all this work I think I'm going to build a new body and not waste the warmoth neck on a piece of crap.
