Moth
Yes. +1 you could also measure a square that closely fits your pickups if you plan on using rings or a pickguard. But it is more astheticly pleasing to route to the shape of the pickup. If you do it right it is a mark of good craftsmanship
guitar101
Hey guys need a bit of help heere. Ive got two humbuckers i want too put in my guitar. How do i make a routing template for them? Do i just trace them and add a tiny bit more and fit them in? Thanks, TJ I used some hardboard that I cut into strips. I placed two strips along the mini humbuckers that I am going to use. Then I placed two other strips tight to the pickup alon the width overlapping the first two. I built up the thickness by stacking more strips and filling in the blank spaces with more hardboard. I ended up with a square box made of hardboard. Using a 1/2 inch router bit will give me the correct corner radius for the mini. Your's could be different. guitar101
I cheated and used stewmac templates. So did I, but my mini humbucker would not fit properly into their P90 rout so I had to build my own.
