govtmule
I'm looking for ideas on where to go dumpster diving or cheap places to get thick acrylic to use for router bases and templates. Any ideas ?
MAGGOTBRAIN
Ask around at a few dept. stores. They frequently throw out unused or broken display units that are made of plexi. I got quite a few usable pieces a local JCP store. They were more than happy to give it to be recycled.

demonx
When I made the bulk of my templates I just bought a full sheet of 6mm and half a sheet of 9mm. At the end of the day it's not that expensive, but I did notice when I called around that some of the suppliers were OVER twice the price of others, so dont be afraid to make a few calls and compare prices. TonyFlyingSquirrel
If in Northern California, or Seattle, Wa, you can check out www.tapplastics.com. They can do lazer cutting and fire polishing. Just bring in a scaled drawing of what you want cut out.
