westhemann
This is going to be an LP,or similar to it anyway, all I have done on this one is rough shape and top glued on.As I thicknessed it just now the "stained" part of the maple moved off center,so I am going to modify the shape a bit and see if I can get it back closer. It won't be easy because I already have the control cavity routed on the back.Birdseye maple top and Llimba back.I do have a neck started for this one.I will take pics in a minute
westhemann
Okay, neck.Limba with a maple board. The headstock shape is not the one I am using.I was originally going to use this neck for a neck through explorer, but I prefer not now.Bocote binding
verhoevenc
Holy hell!? What's up with the GIANT binding? Doesn't look slotted either. I'm not sure I'd like that much tang without an anchor... Chris
westhemann
um...the binding sticks out past the neck width....it gets cut back with the neck.I always do it like that because it's easier than cutting wood into thin strips Looks like this after
westhemann
Here we go.Got a break in the rain long enough to rough cut the neck..thin binding.Obviously tomorrow I have to straighten it all out via hand sanding.
verhoevenc
Ah. Didn't know you were doing that. Do you not have a tablesaw Wes? I cut binding to as low as .060" with more than acceptable lack of variance right on my table. Chris
westhemann
No,I don't have a tablesaw.I wish I did,but all I have are the smallest tools I can get by with, since I have to move everything into the yard to do the work.I kind of do everything the hard way,I think...
