cool#9
Thinking of buying an unfinished Warmoth neck and finish it myself. How do you finish the fretboard (maple)? Can you spray lacquer over it (with frets installed) then polish the lacquer off of the frets? (Can't find any pertinent videos on neck finishing.) westhemann
It's how I do it,too.Just make sure you mask the fretboard off very well after the finish is cured but before you polish the frets. It's very easy to screw up and polish the finish right off the fretboard. RobSm
In a DIY (non-industrial) set up,what would you use to do the polishing, and what's the best way to go about it? Not so much the finish on the frets, but the fingerboard?
westhemann
I use an auto buffer for the finish and a Dremel to polish the frets after
Dean
I use a drill with a polish pad.
