Belial
I will be getting an ash body blank at the end of next week. What I'm wanting to do is use an analine (waterbased) dye to blacken the wood some and then oil finish it.Will the dye affect how the oil soaks into the wood?I want to try and keep the feel of the wood.I could use some advise/opinions. Lex Luthier
I did a small test piece a month or two ago of an alchohol based dye stain with polimerized tung oil over it. The dye blead into the oil a little, just like it does with lacquer. It didn't affect anything, except the rag I used to apply the oil got kinda burgundy. Looked nice actually. drezdin
the black spot is a carving in the body of a man burning in fire.
Guest Litchfield Custom Gutars
Very sharp looking answer to the question. The verdict is in and it is GOOD!
