guitar_ed
Hi, I stopped by the local GoodWill store the other day and for $2 I got a project guitar for my daughter. I have posted more pix on My Website Later days! Guitar Ed
weezerboy
The tuner for the 6th string is missing. Had I known, I might have gotten for $1 instead of $
angry_jeremy
I've got a yardsale special that I'm 'working' on (more like Dremeling on) YEEHAA! It's not quite as bad as that little number though. There must be tens of dollars worth of plywood in it!
weezerboy
is it highly figured plywood?
guitar_ed
Hi Guys, One thing. To my astonishment, it ain't plywood. It is cardboard. The neck is wood of some undeterminate type. Guitar Ed
renablistic
hahahaha. Dude that sucks. You cant refinish cardboard, eh? Unless you go over the existing one with like a solid color.... I want a half size acoustic. I have 3/4 size i converted to fretless but it's too big to play while in the car... so i need a half size fretless.... IbanezIceman
Cute Reminds of a guitar I once bought for my son. It was a $40 3/4 scale acoustic. Lol... the neck broke at the joint 2 days later. Anyway, the interesting part was that the frets were completely out of place. The first fret was actually HALF a fret! Looked homemade by someone who had NO clue about scales or fret placement. The guy I bought it from said he had purchased a lot of these from South America somewhere. Someone needs to call the factory and tell'em "hey just skip the frets - you're better off fretless"
guitar_ed
I was watching TV this morning with my daugther, and an ad came on for a show called "Oobie" And right before my eyes, Oobie was playing my daughters new guitar. Same type of cardboard POS. BTW: It has no real frets. Just raised cardboard bumps. Guitar Ed
weezerboy
thats so much like my uke, it was £20, made of some kind of "wood" nylon strings "tuners" "bridge" jackson sticker on back to add some value to the POS

guitar_ed
Hi All, It is done. The $2 guitar is alive and well... strung. I think that proper strings constitute a mod, and that is the limit on this guitar.

guitar_ed
Here is my daughter with her guitar. She is playing slide again, but at least this guitar is a 5 string, strung in G (sort of). I think the poor child has her daddy's feet.
guitar_ed
It happens to us all. At some point we all become dissolute musicians, and drink too much and take up with strange friends. In my daughters case, it happened earlier than usual.
