Sharkster
Would any of you please share what bits you use on your CNC Machines when milling (routing) you necks and/or bodies? I have a new end mill with a 1/4 Shank Collet in my Spindle and I'm having a bit of a problem locating long end mill bits that are 1/4" shank. mistermikev
well I guess it depends on what you mean by long... I use whiteside downcut. they really have about 1.375" of extension out the collet. I don't find I need more than that. I did buy a slightly longer 1/4 kyocera bit from drillman1 on evilbay... but I don't believe I've even had to use it yet. I think if you need more depth than that... you might really want to consider getting to a 1/2" shank bit... because the further away from the chuck you get the less accurate/stable it's going to be. No expert here... just thought I'd chime in until the experts get here.
