Popular Post Retrosonix
I have never built a guitar with a tremelo or with 3 pickups before and i had to fix that. Poplar body and some lovely flamey for the neck and fingerboard. it is going to be a painted body, it has been a pretty straight forward so far and i am liking how its looking.
ShatnersBassoon
Nice modern design! I really like the headstock. There’s a guy that makes aluminium necks that does something not too far off from that (Alef?) Anyway, really cool so far…will be following with interest

Retrosonix
M5 bolts and recievers in place, always gives me the fear but this time it was drama free. I find them soo much more secure / tight than screws - so its a proper bolt on neck.
Andronico
On 2008 I made a travel guitar and used M5 Allen bolts too, not the same that you are using now, but it works very well without any problem during this time.
Retrosonix
The bolts work really well. The inserts need a little bit of beeswax on them when first installed
Retrosonix
Managed to get the pup cavities routed and a bit of shaping done.
Andronico
Good work ! Have you decided the finish of the guitar ? She'll be in natural wood of painted ? I think that she'll look very good painted in a two colours scheme.
avengers63
I'm really digging the headstock. It was a clever idea to use the V router bit to make the channels in the body. They should really pop once it's painted.

Thanks, the headstock has evolved over about 3 different builds, i like the channels too, they add a nice definiton to the shape. the fret slots are cut so i will be fretting tomorrow
Bizman62
Ooh! That Zig-Zag effect with the figuration and frets just blew my mind!

Retrosonix
Lovely sunshine today, i got to use my custom spray booth - primer time! Not sure why i cant upload the image the right way up though.
Retrosonix
Two coats of primer, now the boring waiting for paint to dry bit.
Retrosonix
I did see a post where someone was asking how to get rid of the grain / pores in poplar, i use 400 grit paper to apply shellac, it does the trick.
Retrosonix
Body is painted and laquered but not level sanded yet. Neck is pretty much done apart from a little more oil
Retrosonix
Level sanded and first polish, it turned out ok considering it was breezy when the laquercoats were going on and i got a streak or two on the front but they sanded out nicely. Retrosonix
Test fit, i like it. There are some things that bug me, skewiff logo / trem back cavity is a bit too deep / i should have made the tuner spacing a tad wider and few other things but i wont let them get me down! The next one will correct these little niggles.
